  1. Sorry about that... it may be the best hours you spent on the internet, though. Blessings, Mia
  2. Hi everyone, Below is an update on our CLAA experience which I posted from another forum: We started CLAA on the last week of February and so far our family loves it. In Grammar I, for every other lesson, Grammar rules are presented for memory work then for the weeks in between, the students learn Latin using the verses in the Gospel of John (as in the sample lesson). So everything is pretty straightforward. Catechism is taken directly from Baltimore Catechism 4. Lessons are divided to 2 parts: Prayers and Catechism. Prayers are explained part by part and Catechism questions also have meaty explanations that are very good discussion starters. At the end of each lesson, students have to take an exam and get a score of 100% in order to go to the next lesson (they can take it several times). I really like CLAA because it makes homeschooling simple for us. We discuss Catechism lessons as a family following my younger son's lessons. My oldest ds works independently on his lessons and directs most of his questions to Mr. Michael who promptly responds. I help out my younger ds with Grammar and assist both in their memory work (especially my younger ds). I also make sure that all requirements for each lesson are met. So while both of them are working, I get to do reading time and a short "lesson" time with my toddler. We do Catechism and Grammar in the morning and Math and other subjects in the afternoon. Though it seems that we're doing less, I am confident that my kids are learning much more. I hope this helps. Blessings, Mia R. wife to Jon ('96) mom to Gab '97, Paolo '00, Cesco '05, Muriel '08 plus 2 in heaven
  3. Hello, Has anyone tried enrolling at the Classical Liberal Arts Academy? I went to their website and am impressed with their goals and objectives for Classical education. I went ahead enrolled my boys in their Grammar I and Classical Catechism classes and I just wanted to get feedback from anyone who has tried their program. Thanks. Mia R.
  4. Dear Moira and Laurie, Thank you for your insights. We have decided to stick with Singapore math. EPGY is really expensive esp. that the tuition is per quarter. Also, the kids enjoy doing Singapore anyway. I just ordered the Challenge math to supplement. Also, thanks for the links to other math curricula. Blessings, Mia
  5. My 2 boys who are 7 yo and 11 yo both passed the EPGY aptitude test. We are currently using Singapore math and I was wondering if there would be any advantage in enrolling with EPGY (considering the price) over continuing with Singapore math. Thanks. Blessings, Mia
