I bought several! On sale for about $12 each. They are on sale a lot... I did try on at the store. Several department stores carry them. Love them! I resisted the molded type for quite a while, but now I really like them.

    Way cheaper than surgery...

For 12 bucks, how can I resist? ;)

Not to be snarky, but why don't you just unfriend her then? You don't care about what goes on with her b/c she's no longer in your life and her seemingly caring about you irritates you. Why don't you just cut the tie?

I agree. Some friends are in our lives only for a season, and it sounds as if, for you, the season is over.

I like the "age-defying lift" part. That's exactly what I'm looking for! Let us know what you think when you get it.

  4. Hey, I found a "specialty lingerie shop"! I couldn't figure out how to find that, so I googled the exact phrase and added on my city. I'm making an appointment and going next week. Excited!

  5. In grade school we went year-round, taking vacations as they came up, so we just kept on going. Finished a book in Feb? Start the next one. Taking longer than 36 weeks to finish a course? No worries, year-round school gives us plenty of time.

Middle school/junior high: we started staying on our sailboat all summer, so we used a 36-week year (based on TOG). My year was done at 36 weeks. Sometimes curricula was still finished early, and the next one was started right away.

High school - one child is in full-time, the other one is part-time, but either way we are now tied to the public school schedule. So, I adjusted accordingly, and now this year will finish on May 23, just like the high school. I scheduled my lesson plans to match, so we'll be done with everything by then. Which is convenient, because we head to France 6 days later. Gotta have time to pack and unwind. :tongue_smilie:

Next year, both kids will be in school full-time for their Sophomore year. Boo.

  6. :grouphug: We were in this spot 2 years ago; my dad died one week before Easter. It was hard, because Easter is always at my parent's house, and my dad was a very fun, larger-than-life kind of guy. His presence was, and continues to be, sorely missed.

  7. I guess I'm one who "doesn't get it"! We've taken the kids, and it's fun, but I don't feel all googly about it. My dh & I used to live 20 minutes from DL and we'd go up every rainy weekend when the park was mostly empty. Again, fun, but not swoon-worthy.

And for the record, I do agree with a couple of others about camping. No stinkin' way! ;-) We (and the kids) prefer Europe. Or sailing. Call us crazy. :D

  8. We have noticed that prices have REALLY gone up recently. Just a few years back a round-trip to Paris on American was $600-700. This year? $1600 is the cheapest on any airline.

Also, Southwest Air is a no-brainer for us on quick hops to CA (from AZ), but i just priced tickets for a weekend I want to go over in April, and it's $400 for a 50-minute flight!! Crazy.

  9. Ulgh infuriating and horrible. And ominous.

Yes, this is what's so infuriating. People seem to be such passive sheep on this issue! Our politicians, BOTH parties, are literally killing us with these decisions. I'm all about CHOICE - choice of marriage partners, choice of educating my kids, and the choice to know what is going into our bodies!

I can't believe no one cares that we are slowly losing our choice and living in a police state, where Monsanto seems to be some omnipotent deity. So bizarre.

Some think this is over-reacting, but I'm not saying "ban GMO" (well, I wish). But I AM saying "let me know what I'm eating, and I'll decide for myself!!!"

  10. If you have a decent set of bOOks, head to the better stores.

Herein lies the problem. I'm hoping that a good-fitting bra will at least help me LOOK like I do. :D

Nordstrom wins, so I'll head there today. Thanks, everyone!

  11.

Pretty much. And since Wendy lives in some sort of area with a total lack of farming (Where would that be in the US anyway? Arizona Desert?) why wouldn't you want to fight for better food access for everyone??

Hey! even in the Arizona desert we have awesome CSA's, wonderful urban farms, great grass-fed, free-ranging ranches for beef, lamb, goats, buffalo, and chickens. Nice, long growing season. Oh and heck, our roses never get mold. (Hee hee)

Just wanted to throw that out there. :D.

  12. I'm ready to have a bra that might take full advantage of my limited opportunities. :D

So, when you say you got fitted for a bra and it made such a difference, where? Nordstrom? Victoria's Secret? Some specialty bra shop?

  13. Another thought to consider:

In many churches, the sermon is the "big event" of the service. However, I don't think sermons tend to be very effective in helping people in their walk with Jesus. Often, they don't even point to Jesus much. In a world of iPods, if the sermon is the main reason to go to church, why bother? We can just download it and listen at home.

I think the main reason to go to church is for believers to mutually edify and encourage each other. The New Testament talks about everyone bringing a song, hymn, revelation, or a teaching. It wasn't a passive audience listening to a long sermon. It was interactive. We've lost that and we've lost the community that goes with it. Instead, we have groups of people who don't (or barely) know each other sit passively watching a man preach. How is that helping people?

I think young adults are looking for a sense of community and aren't getting it at church.

As one who has recently returned the fold of a liturgical service (Anglican, now), I LOVE (LOVE, in case you didn't get that) this post. My dh is skeptical and was in a wonderful, bible-based, spiritually spot-on church for 35 years (Calvary Chapel - huge respect for them!), and now I'm attending this Anglican Church and he's hanging in there. He doesn't "get" what you write, but to me it makes SUCH a difference.

I'm saving this, in the hopes I can express the thoughts as well as you.
