Here's my rising second grader's list. This is for a precocious kid who's working ahead of grade level in all subjects. Her birthday will be 2.5 weeks past the local cut-off for second grade, but she began schooling in a different state with a later cut-off. I'm not changing her grade. :tongue_smilie:

 

Grammar: First Language Lessons

Spelling: Rod and Staff's Spelling by Sound and Structure

Writing: WTM style (sans WWE), may begin Classical Writing Aesop in the second semester

Reading: Veritas Press literature

Latin: Latin for Children A (I have held her off as long as I can so her grammar can catch up, and she's heard two rounds of the chanting from older siblings doing this course. I think she'll do fine.)

Math: Rod and Staff

-subjects under this line will be combined with her 4th grade brother

Bible: Training Hearts Teaching Minds, and Sword Fighting (latter is done with all her siblings at the start of each school day)

History: Veritas Press/SOTW modern times combo using an Easy Classical schedule

Science: an older BJU earth science textbook read aloud, and completed much the same way WTM recommends working through kid friendly encyclopedias

Art: Discovering Great Artists

 

 

Extra: American Heritage Girls
