Thank you all so much for your input. It really helps to get other people's perspective. I'm still undecided, but you have all given me things to consider.
Thanks again,

She finds almost everything about math frustrating. I think mainly it is a subject that requires her to put forth more effort than she would like. She gets frustrated because it doesn't all come easily to her. She is much better at math than she realizes. She just isn't as good at math as she is her other subjects. I read what Saxon recommends. I am just not sure if it is right for her. Math has been a daily source of frustration for most of this year. She usually does okay on the work, but it takes her a long time and she gets very frustrated during the process. I don't want to waste a year of math development. But, I don't want another year filled with frustration either.

Good point. She is having difficulty with the algebra portions too. She has become frustrated lately and tends to want to give up quickly. If I talk her through the problems, she can usually understand it pretty quickly.

Hi -
My sixth grade daughter will finish Saxon 8/7 this year. She has done fine with it, but it has been a frustrating year for her. She has scored 85 or higher on most of her tests. I am trying to decide if we should do Saxon 1/2 next year or Algebra 1. I think she could do Algebra 1. I'm just not sure I want to see her so frustrated with math. She is an excellent student, but she hates math. What do you think?

I think you should go for it. These boards are a blessing to so many people. I had no idea it cost so much for PHP. If allowing advertising makes it easier to continue these boards and do other good work, I think it is a great idea.

I plan to use the third edition and the online option. In my opinion, the new text book isn't worth missing the online content. We are using Life Science this year with the online option. The videos add so much to the text. I highly recommend them.

My daughter loves her books from Horizon Preschool. They help her feel involved when I do school with my oldest. She also loves Kumon books.

I ended up using A Beka. It was a better fit for my daughter.

Yeah! I'm so glad you got him back.

I used A Reason for Spelling when my oldest was in first grade. I loved the layout and all the fun activities. We didn't continue with it because the words were too easy for her. She excels at spelling and needed something more challenging. I think it would be a great program for an average or below average spelling student.

I have ordered from the Toms website. I wear a size 5, and the size 5 in Toms fits perfectly. I tried them on in a local store, but the price online was better because of a coupon. Their customer service was fine for me. I got my shoes quickly. I haven't ever returned anything or had a problem so I am not sure how they handle any of that.

I'm so sorry for what you are going through!

I liked the other format much better. I used to be able to buy and sell quickly. Now, I have listed items and had them expire before selling. These items were popular items and they were priced to sell. I also don't like that they took away my seller rating. I worked hard to make everyone I dealt with happy and I had outstanding ratings. I also liked buying more before the changes. Last year, I mostly purchased new materials because I couldn't find what I needed.

We have prime and I have noticed a slight slow down. They have started shipping some items via FedEx Smartpost and those items are rarely within the two days promised. They raised the price of Priime, but the service has gotten worse. The bad thing is you never know if you will get the great quick service or have a delay.

I have a 4 year old and an almost 12 year old. They enjoy each other and get along most of the time. Of course, there are times that the 4 year old drives her sister crazy, but she is still glad she has a sister.

I'm so sorry. I hope the medications help. I had to say goodbye to my standard poodle in early December. It is so difficult.

I'm so sorry. I had to put my Standard Poodle to sleep in December. It is terribly difficult.

We have nice laminate in most of our house. We love it. We looked at a lot of brands and ended up with Robina laminate. We have had several people mistake it for hardwood. We like it because it is durable and can stand up to the dog and kids.

I'm so sorry. It is so hard to lose a beloved pet. Having to make the choice for euthanasia makes it even harder. I had to put my beloved standard poodle to sleep in early December. I still find myself crying over him. I know it was the right thing to do, but I stil second guess myself and our trusted vets at times. I'm sure Luke knew he was loved. Give yourself time and permission to grieve his loss,.
Hugs,

Yes it does! My grandmother had it and it was awful. Hugs to you. I know it is difficult to watch someone you love go through that terrible disease.

We have a cordless Rowenta sweeper that I use for our laminate and tile floors. It is much quicker than sweeping and it does a decent job. I will use the corded broom when the floor is really dirty or I need to mop. Otherwise, the cordless Rowenta is great.

I am so sorry. Losing a pet is hard enough without having people be so insensitive. I lost my male standard poodle in early December and I am still crying for him. In my opinion, their comments are just plain cruel.

I use and like Scholaric too. It is not free, but it is inexpensive. I think I pay about $1.00 per month for one child. It seems like he went up a little bit, but it is still very reasonable.

Dog health question--vets?

How is your dog? I have been thinking about him. In December, I lost my boy that had a lot of health problems including seizures. I took him in right away after his first seizure. None of his tests were ever conclusive so it didn't really help him.
I hope your little guy is doing better!
