  1. I don't usually post on the "General Board" but I thought someone might be able to help. My daughter has been gaining weight over the past year and I can't figure out why. She just doesn't eat enough to be that overweight. She has always been a little overweight, but it seems to be getting worse. She has really been trying to watch what she eats, but it doesn't seem to be helping. Should I ask her Dr. about it? I don't want to embarrass her, so I don't say anything; I just cannot figure it out. She will be eleven in a few weeks. Is it hormones or something?

Anyone experience this? What should I do?

  2. Servin,

That is very interesting. I've never thought of doing that....

So you print out the lesson plan for the entire year for each subject, for each student? and then they check it off as they go? An I understanding you correctly?

  3. Danielle,

Yes! I am very interested. Please PM me. :001_smile:

    Servin,

I can totally relate to "failing miserably" in checking things off etc. That is what I'm trying to avoid next year :) I am interested to hear more about how you did things. I'll re-read your post, but I'm not sure if I quite understand everything.

    Everyone else,

Thank you so much for your replies...I love the feedback on this board ! I think you are right about a 6 week trial. That would be a lot of paper with my # of children :)

  4. I know, but my problem was that I would always get behind in checking things off and rescheduling etc. so on Monday mornings my kids would have no schedule. I just thought they could check things off on the paper instead of on the computer. I don't really need to print out reports or anything. I'd only be using it to make a schedule. Does that make sense? Kind of like Sonlight does I guess, but this would be my own.

  5. Does anyone use this to print out the entire year schedule and then have it bound or something? Wouldn't that be like any pre-made schedule purchased from a company but with your own curr. ? I'm just looking for some feed back. This idea came to me today, and I'm wondering if it would be helpful to keep us on track next year. I've used HST in the past but gave it up last year b/c I could not keep up with checking things off in the program. I would skip that step and just use it to make my schedule. What do you think? Can you see any draw backs I'm overlooking?

    Thanks,

    Renee

  6. I am impressed! I was hoping that I wouldn't have to do all the work. I've designed them before so I guess I can do it all again. I'm also contemplating using HST+ to make a schedule for the entire year and just print them out for each child. I won't check things off in the program, I'll just use it to make my schedules. Then, we can check things off as they get done. We may not finish everything, but at least we'll know where we are at all times :)

I put away HST last year because I just never could keep up with checking off what was complete etc. I would always get behind. But I could use it just to print off the schedule right? Or am I missing something.

I can't believe no one has a link to a generic sonlight schedule. I thought for sure it would be easy to find.

Know what you mean about planners. I never can find one with what I need. Maybe I should design my own! :)

  7. Thanks Heather,

I will think about those options. I'm going over to look at Mega Words right now :)

I also liked Explode the Code for the little ones. Do you know anything about those? I'll have to do a search of the boards.

  8. As someone who is doing Y3 next year, what spine would you recommend?

I'd like something fairly accurate and unbiased (don't we all!) Is there something close? Or could I just skip that and just do the in-depth reading?

    Any suggestions?

  9. Any curriculum out there in workbook format that teaches reading using the philosophy found in WRTR or SWR? I'm starting my next one in K next year and I'm wondering if I can find something to use other that A Beka.

    Thanks,

    Renee

(....who shouldn't be up at 12:30am thinking about curriculum choices!! Doubts seem to lurk relentlessly at this hour!)
