Math: 5A/5B SM. Love the way that the material is presented and the word problems really get him thinking. He had Everyday Math at PS, an old math textbook (1999) at home. SM is working well, but he's sailing through it, so we will probably transition into something else relatively soon
Science: Holt Science and Technology- Life Science. This is a middle school series starting with Earth Science (6), then Life Science (7), then Physical Science (8). We took about a year and a quarter to year and a half to finish the 6th grade Earth Science. Highly recommended for the accelerated learner who prefers depth over breadth.
Social Studies: Moving into the Middle Ages, contemplating History Odyssey, but have a 7th grade textbook that covers this time frame as well- Across the Centuries
Reading: Historical fiction related to our social studies units. Currently on King Arthur. He wants to learn about the Byzantine Empire next so we will read The Emperor's Winding Sheet.
Music: Drums, bells (Xylophone), and piano.
Spanish: Highly, highly, highly recommend Rosetta Stone (if you can afford it) and then begin supplementing with Madrigal's Spanish lessons once a core vocabulary is established.
Art: I'm always at a loss for art....

He's working on multiplication and division of fractions in 5A right now...so it's covered even earlier. ;-0

Hi, everyone!
I'm new here and had a specific question about Singapore Math. My son is sailing through the 5A curriculum and once he's done with it, we'll do 5B, 6A, and 6B. However, I'm not sure what curriculum follows that. The secondary SM items look really confusing to me. He'll be ready for Pre-Algebra soon, but it's not clear how SM does that.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks!

See if she can read lips. I know it sounds weird, but if she can, she might have an Auditory Processing Disorder. This means that she might be relying on lip reading to better process auditory information. If, for instance, in Confirmation classes, she can't see or the information is mostly given orally, she's going to flake out, because she can't process it. It also shows up in bad spelling and lack of phonics skills.
She also might be growing a great deal and need more good fats as she heads further into puberty. I read Omega-3 fatty acids are especially good for attention issues. Address her diet issues and see if there is an improvement and make sure she is full up on "growing" foods like proteins and those Omega-3s.
