I just posted about our apple picking trip.
Or it could be called why I'll never go off our feingold diet again.
I am trying to post regularly this year. I may even post a minute by minute day this week.

Vanilla flavored Rice Milk by Rice Dream or Chocolate Almond Milk are favorites here.

Well the open house was yesterday and it went well. He freaked out a bit on arrival due to the crowd I think. But, once we were in the room he eventually got comfortable. I even went into the hall alone for a few minutes. He says he wants to go back-with me.
Hopefully he won't be too bad when I leave today. I am going to try staying a little while and then slowly leaving.

My 3 yo son has Sensory Processing Issues, Speech Delay, and is possibly on the autism spectrum as well. We are going through the school district for therapy and they run a special needs inclusive preschool program. He is excited about going, but only if I stay. He's already told me that if I leave him- he'll walk home. Besides warning his teacher that she should make sure the door is locked- does anyone have any advice for me?
My older kids went to preschool but they had no special needs or separation issues. I waffled back and forth about just taking him for therapy vs. preschool, but he's to get 90 minutes of speech and 90 minutes ot per week, they can't be done back to back. So I'd be doing nothing but driving him over there. The preschool is nice- 3 teachers to 4 kids in his room with a cap of 10 kids.
So anyway, I know he'll cry, but has anyone BTDT?

We actually bought and used these without the rest of sonlight science. The kids just watched the dvds and copied whatever experiments they liked. That was k-2 for us so I didn't feel a heavy science curriculum was needed then.

The manuals all have 2008 editions. See their order form:
You could always look for an older version on ebay also.

We're at $1200 a month for our family of 8. DH,FIL,3 teenage boys,1 girl, a toddler and me. We are a GFCF mostly organic family. That includes cleaning stuff and dog/cat food.

Elizabeth,
We've taken our kids to Disney a few times. The first time we rented a RV, drove down, and stayed at Fort Wilderness. It cost us $3000 to have the RV for 18 days. That was in the long ago time of $1 a gallon gas (2000). So we spent $5000 for everything (tickets, gas, food, stuff) We were there for Halloween.
We then discovered that we were good campers and bought a pop-up camper. Our most economical trips have been with the camper. We always go in the Fall-Oct/Nov, the parks are empty the Disney prices are not in the "holiday" rates yet and we get a nice break from the cold fall weather here.

Exactly. They said since they don't carry it they would have thrown mine away. And since they don't sell it-they won't send me a new one.

Been looking for over 2 weeks-turns out its not under the couch or in the basement- I mailed it to amazon with a returned item!
I did call them after receiving their email but they can't send it back, and are sorry.

LCC= Latin Centered Curriculum

We fasted from eating out in November for the same reasons. We haven't had fast food since! We did order pizza in for my 17 year olds birthday- but now that we've broken the habit, I don't think we'll ever go back to eating out regularly. I've loved having the extra money and its a lot easier to bring food with if we are going out for an extended day. We even brought lunch with us at the RV show and I'm sure that saved us $50 of overpriced, not yummy fast food!

I'm a Ron Paul fan also- don't know why he never gets any press...

Hey our library has it! How frugal is that!

Soy milk had the same effects on my son that dairy milk did. We had to eliminate it entirely. I read somewhere that the protein in soy is very close to that of cows milk- so you may see a similar reaction. In our case our 2 year old starts biting, hair pulling and banging his head on the wall if he has any dairy or soy products. Needless to say the whole family keeps an eye on what he's eating now!
My boys love chocolate almond milk. We buy the Blue diamond Brand Natural Almond Breeze. We use Rice Dream Vanilla Rice milk in cereal and in anything I bake.
Hope this helps!

This is what I would do:
1. Make a list of all the subjects you want covered and the curricula you'd use.
2. Write up a weekly schedule with everything
3. Start re arranging and cutting things.
My first thought is that it would be easy to do SOTW as your classical study. There are no LCC police that will knock on your door. Or Do SOTW on Fridays and its history and art if you use the activity guide. Music too if you have some playing while you read aloud!
The biggest choice will be if you want to do just Latin or continue with FLL. You'll just have to choose. Or do both and you'll be more WTM and less LCC- and that OK.
If its any consolation- you'll probably change our mind about 10 more times before your kids are grown!

Thanks for posting this. I've been looking for a good timeline!

Always have to have the last word-
Anyway I'm Jen, we've been homeschooling for 6 years and we live in Northern IL. We're about exactly halfway between Chicago and Milwaukee (in fact I grocery shop in WI). We follow a combo of a WTM/LCC curriculum at home.
Tell me how it really is (large family and homeschooling)

Ok- Well first off have you considered combining your kids?
That really saved me. We still have a very long day- but at 3pm we are done. We've been doing music, art, and nature study along with our main subjects this year. My kids are in pre-k,4,7,9,12 grades this year.
I'm thinking your 2 and 3rd graders could do almost everything together. And your k and pre-k could be another group.
Also- the schedule is key. Except for appt days we do everything in the same order every day. On weekends we still do chores at the same time and wake up and go to bed on schedule too. Mondays are still long- but at least we aren't sleep deprived.
