I live about fifty miles north of Lubbock. Lubbock has a very active homeschooling community. It has co-ops, classes, playgroups, etc. However, I don't want to drive to Lubbock every week (or every month) so I just utilize the homeschool network (http://www.lubbockhomeschool.com/) to find out about field trip opportunities. I can't help with the neighborhood options. This area of Texas is flat and dry and very, very brown.

We just moved to Texas this past summer, and we are planning on homeschooling this coming fall. We're in the Panhandle region.

I'm also in the Bloomington area. I have a preschooler (as well as younger children) and we're still debating what type of schooling to do. We're keeping it simple right now.
