  1. I've been using this app on my android phone for about a week -- I LOVE it!

    FREE version

I can have multiple shopping list (grocery, Sams Club, my food coop)

syncs with computer/web-based lists and phone automatically

scan UPC code and it will add items instantly.

Just had to share... its been great to have all my lists with my on my phone.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  2. I'd say the initial sound of univalve is that of consonant /y/, so the article "a" is correct. I believe that the rule of "an" applies to the vowel sounds themselves, not simply their placement at the beginning of a word. I'm no grammarian, but does that help? :001_smile:

Another non-grammarian here... I agree. But REALLY good question. Made me think : )

  3. I also cannot get the kissgrammar.org site to load today. You can try tomorrow.

Thanks, Nansk. Still nothing this morning. Bah.... I guess all I can do is keep trying. Anyone willing to email me one of the workbooks they have downloaded so I can check it out?? The suspense is killing me :001_smile:

PM me if you are willing to email me some of these materials and I'll get you my address.

thank you - from a curriculum junkie waiting for a new fix :001_smile:

  4. Reading about KISS Grammar for the first time tonight. Very interested - thank you to all who have posted info and explanations.

I'm frustrated because I cannot get the site with the materials to load. http://nweb.pct.edu/homepage/staff/evavra/KISS.htm

I've tried everything to access the site: clicking the link, putting the link into a google search, pasting the link directly into my browser, even searching for Penn College and I cannot get their home page to open.

Hoping that pct.edu is having computer trouble or something tonight. Anyone else having trouble???

(sorry, I think maybe I mostly need to vent my frustration)

    Thanks for listening,

    Erica

  5. Another recomendation for Faber Piano Adventures. And a fun (helpful) thing we stumbled upon... many songs can be found on YouTube: some videos are teachers that have recorded songs as demonstrations for their students and other videos are piano recitals. These videos have been very helpful when my boys are "stuck" and can't quite figure out a section of a song.

  6. I completely agree that not every curriculum is for every student.

We've done Sonlight for five years now and love it. My kids retain much more than I realize. This information comes out in unexpected places - like when a National Parks ranger asks them a history question. : ) FWIW, we've only done Sonlight up through Core D (about 4th or 5th grade) so far.

At the same time, I can see that other programs work wonderfully for other families.

Good for you for finding something that works for you and yours.
