  1. What is the "online option"? - I'm not familiar with this... considering this program for next year, too. Thanks for any insights you can share.
  2. I could not agree more -- thanks to all for sharing your cultural adventures.
  3. Just joining the chorus of "yes". My 8yo boy and 5 yo girl love it. plastic rolling cart for storage... we have mostly small sets and mixed lots from ebay. They use lego, wood block and the doll house to build the backdrops for their adventures : )
  4. I've been using this app on my android phone for about a week -- I LOVE it! FREE version I can have multiple shopping list (grocery, Sams Club, my food coop) syncs with computer/web-based lists and phone automatically scan UPC code and it will add items instantly. Just had to share... its been great to have all my lists with my on my phone. https://www.outofmilk.com/default.aspx Happy Thanksgiving!
  5. If you're open to old movies... My kids loved it last year ages 11, 8 and 5.... White Christmas with Bing Crosby.
  6. Another non-grammarian here... I agree. But REALLY good question. Made me think : )
  7. I'll add Peep and the Big Wide World to the list - my kids all love them ages 11, 8 and 5 - both boys and girls. Science and fun. I agree with Magic School Bus and Liberty's Kids (though my younger ones get a bit scared at the suspense in some of these).
  8. So many have already said this... Church = family. I'm surprised that they would ask you to split up.
  9. Thanks, Nansk. Still nothing this morning. Bah.... I guess all I can do is keep trying. Anyone willing to email me one of the workbooks they have downloaded so I can check it out?? The suspense is killing me :001_smile: PM me if you are willing to email me some of these materials and I'll get you my address. thank you - from a curriculum junkie waiting for a new fix :001_smile: Erica
  10. More listening ears... for some reason I thought KISS *did* have diagramming as a part of the lessons. Any KISS users out there able to help us out? Thanks in advance, Erica
  11. Reading about KISS Grammar for the first time tonight. Very interested - thank you to all who have posted info and explanations. I'm frustrated because I cannot get the site with the materials to load. http://nweb.pct.edu/homepage/staff/evavra/KISS.htm I've tried everything to access the site: clicking the link, putting the link into a google search, pasting the link directly into my browser, even searching for Penn College and I cannot get their home page to open. Hoping that pct.edu is having computer trouble or something tonight. Anyone else having trouble??? (sorry, I think maybe I mostly need to vent my frustration) Thanks for listening, Erica
  12. We love ours - never needed the warranty. Its been more than 10+ years since we bought it.
  13. I did not have an ERGO baby carrier until my third child. They are bliss! Front-wear, back-wear.... with baby on your back, you can carry and fold laundry, even chop vegetables. Check out the ERGO :001_smile:
  14. Another recomendation for Faber Piano Adventures. And a fun (helpful) thing we stumbled upon... many songs can be found on YouTube: some videos are teachers that have recorded songs as demonstrations for their students and other videos are piano recitals. These videos have been very helpful when my boys are "stuck" and can't quite figure out a section of a song.
  15. My history-loving boy thanks you all for the suggestions... off to the library request webpage : )
  16. Thanks! Reading is fun. Reading for free stuff is more fun : )
  17. Lately, my kids (10, 7 and 4) and dh and I have been laughing out loud at Shaun the Sheep... claymation by the same folks that did Wallace and Grommit. I'd love to hear what other folks are watching, too... with the kids or after bedtime.
  18. Thanks! Love Netflix - but not always easy to discover all the gems that are hidden there!
  19. Soooo excited that you mentioned Deonstructing Penguins. I'd never heard of it and was (im)patiently waiting for my kids to be old enough for TTC. Penguins is on hold at the library. Can't wait to dive in. Thank you!
  20. If you have kids that love worksheets and/or coloring... it can be worth it. It worked well when my second was about 2-3yo and wanted to "do school" like his big brother.
  21. Just posting to say that I'm listening for feedback, too... :bigear:
  22. I completely agree that not every curriculum is for every student. We've done Sonlight for five years now and love it. My kids retain much more than I realize. This information comes out in unexpected places - like when a National Parks ranger asks them a history question. : ) FWIW, we've only done Sonlight up through Core D (about 4th or 5th grade) so far. At the same time, I can see that other programs work wonderfully for other families. Good for you for finding something that works for you and yours.
