  1. Sorry, I did leave out that my son is a kinethetic learner and needs lots of sensory feedback and multiple disciplines to make a topic sink in. We do that with clay/play doh as well as painting, coloring, and using chalk to learn words and terms. He is also visual despite his visual disability. He needs to SEE it to learn it.
  2. HAHHA! That's a mouthful huh! Currently, we are doing Singapore math and that works ok. We are reading Life of Fred too. History is SOTW. We are doing Dianne Craft therapies and using Child 1st Snap Words as well as Phono Graphics. I just added Reading Eggs a month ago too all in an effort to get some words to stick in his brain. I don't have a reading program per se since so much of what we do is trying to help him unlock his brain to the potential of reading. We're still at the stage of sounding out all CVC words and remembering very little. I would like to do The Living Books Curriculum with DS 7yo next year. Obviously I would be reading 99% of the work to him and eliminating the copy work until his dysgraphia has improved. Are there any other curricula that you would recommend for a child with his list of alphabet soup? Thanks! Cindy
  3. Hi everyone! This is my first post. :) So, HELLO! :D I'm Cindy, mom to 7yo DS and 5yo DD. DS is my special needs child. I would venture to say given his neuro-psyche eval that he's a 2E child but I can't legitimately say that. What I do know is that at 4, he was dx'ed with SPD. At 6, he was dx'ed with GAD and ADHD (anxiety is predominate) and now at 7, looks to have the same visual perception disorder his father has. DS had his first visual assessment 2 weeks ago. Today he has his second round of tests. The developmental optometrist has already indicated that it looks like some issues with tracking and binocular vision working together. I already know my insurance will NOT cover vision therapy in office. I am looking at computer programs at home. They are pricey and vary greatly!! Anyone have any recommendations for VT at home? programs they have used? I am already using Dianne Craft exercises with DS and have for months. They are helping but its slow going. THanks in advance! Cindy
  4. Ok, I taught that one last year with a co-op. Its actually been a year since we've read it. Do you think it would be too much to "redo" that lesson? We really enjoyed it immensely! I just don't want my VERY 6.5, almost 7yo, to balk b/c we have done it already.
  5. Hi All! I am new to the forums. I am planning out first official year of homeschooling! Our state requires that we register at 7 and DS will be 7 this fall! DS has some learning challenges-- namely dyslexia and some auditory processing issues. I will be following some FIAR concepts for literature as he responds well to that. Could anyone recommend a book to kick off our year? I am using homeschoolshare.com as a spring board for our reading/literature lessons and just don't know which book would hook him and get him excited Thanks for your help! Cindy
