  1. I ment to mention that their English is not the best. That's why I need something very basic. I love AFR, but I think most of the podcasts would just fly over their heads. Perhaps there's a specific podcast that would work though; I'll have a look. Add I'll check out the OCA articles as well. Thank you! :)

ETA: I was just looking at the Discover Orthodoxy section on the Antiochian website. It looks promising!

  2. I'm looking for a basic, plain-language article/video/podcast explaining EO to email to a couple young women I recently met who belong to the World Mission Society Church of God. Any ideas? They seem very firm in their beliefs, so I'm not sure how receptive they'll be to hearing about EO, but after reading about their beliefs I feel I have to tell them something about the Church, and then pray that God's will be done.

  3. Nono, you are much braver/more penitent than I am. Eating meat is the kind of sacrifice I don't even want to think about. :tongue_smilie:

(I hope I'm not make anyone in this group feel bad by saying that. I really don't mind how much meat you eat, so long as you don't try to feed it to me. :))

  4. Parrothead, we're vegetarian year-round, so we go vegan on Friday. Perhaps that would work for you too.

And since I'm vegetarian you'd think I could find some recipes to post, but I'm feeling to lazy to actually write anything out. :o

  5. Since I missed last week's thread, I'm going to get in early on this one. :)

I've finished The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde (which I'm counting as a book, even though that might be breaking the rules:tongue_smilie:) and I'll Be Watching by Pamela Porter. I highly recommend them both! I loved the humour of Earnest, which was a definite contrast with the poignancy of I'll Be Watching. DD 15 recommended the latter to me, saying, "Mum, you have to read this," and she was write. The writing is beautiful and the story of WWII-era orphans in small-town Saskatchewan had me tearing up.

I'm currently reading too many books to list. Okay, part of the reason I don't want to write them all down is because I'm getting tired of saying that I'm still reading Don Quixote. I'll be adding a Dicken's book, possibly Pickwick Papers, to my list to read this month.

  6. Well, I'm just an inquirer, but so far my kids have loved having two calendars. What's not to like about having Christmas twice? :D DS 10 was especially intrigued when it was still 2011 according to the old calendar, but 2012 according to the new. He told his friends that he knows how to time travel, just go to an Orthodox church!
