Hi everyone. I typically skulk around in the shadows of this forum reading others' insights but I'm coming out in the open to ask for some science advice.
Here's my situation:
I am not a science person. In fact, I've been farming out the science that we do to my husband, who works with our children in the evenings. We've used Real Science Odyssey-type stuff and it's been fine. Nevertheless, I'm starting to feel guilty for possibly not doing enough to expose my children to science - in particular, my eleven yo son. He has six younger siblings but is
-a strong reader
-a math kid
-motivated and able to work independently but
-very social/likes to share newfound insights with others with up-to-the-minute regularity
He's in the middle of Teaching Textbooks: Geometry, for context, and has no trouble. I'm looking for an intelligently put together and fun/inspiring biology program for him wherein he can do some work independently and have some weekly guidance from my husband.
Just to make things more complicated, I am a creationist and my husband is not. I have been happy compromising with neutral stance options up to now though I'm not sure how long that can continue with biology. I don't mind having my son exposed to all the going theories but I'm cringing a little inside at what this could look like.
There are, of course, lots of options out there. It's a little overwhelming so I thought I'd ask if some science-y person here can offer some advice.
Bonus points for a program that could be modified to include lots of littles. :)
Thanks!
