I grew up in Fairbanks. mY kids LOVED the Goldrush series on Discovery Channel. I don't think it on Netflix yet but you might be able to watch it online. There are currently a ton of show about ALaska. If you put the political views aside, Sarah Palin's show about her family was great (there is no political views expressed on the show. its really about her life in AK)

I am going to get the AG for SOTW. I am planning on taking it easy after baby is born, but I would bet that we end up doing some work still. DD tends to get bored and really enjoys doing school work. We don't watch alot of TV so relaxing time is usually reading :001_smile:

She does have very good handwriting already. She is now finishing up A Reason for Handwriting A, but I don't think is ready for cursive yet. I'm confused I was planning on using Writing with Ease. Isn't that a writing program with copywork and dictation?

Hi! We are new to homeschooling after withdrawing our 5 year old daughter from public school last week. I have been working with her afterschool since November and will be all done with her kindergarten stuff in March. I am planning on just jumping right into 1st grade I see no point in waiting untill the fall (that's a long time her her to be doing nothing) Hold my hand as I am getting ready to spend $200 on her 1st grade books. Its scary. This is my plan: History- SOTW vol1 Math- Singapore Math 1a Science- Various topics books from library Spelling- A Reason for spelling Grammer- 1st Lanuage lessons Writing- Writing With Ease Reading- OPGTR We're having a baby in the end of April so we will get probably a month break at that time. Tell me what you think I'm so scared but really excited!:001_smile:
