Thanks for all the replies. I think I will just purchase the workbook for now.

I'm looking into this to use with my 8 yo ds who we are pulling out of a private christian school. I'm a little confused as to whether I need both the text and the workbook, or can I just get away with purchasing the workbook.
Thanks,
Deena

I used Headsprout (all 80 lessons) without any other method when my dd & ds were each 5 1/2. When the lessons were finished, I had them read through the CLP phonics readers, easy readers and an early readers bible. After a couple months of doing that, I used MFW 1st grade to get the sounds not covered in Headsprout. I chose MFW because of the integrated Bible study and moved through it in half the time. But, Headsprout, alone, made the learning to read process painless. I just followed their suggestions for practice. You could just dump HOP, use Headsprout alone to give her a break, then move on to Phonics Pathways, OPGTR, Abeka's Handbook for Reading or a Orton/Gillingham based program to finish off reading instruction.

You might no of my uncle.
Jim Sundberg. In is time, he won 6 gold gloves (he was a catcher) and is very poular in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He also has a World Series ring when he played for the KC Royals (won in 1985) Wow! That's over 20 years ago.

Thank you for your responses. I'll get the new ones.
Mom2abcd, We happened to have A and B also and my husband thought we were done with children. 5 years later, God had a different plan, so since our kids are A, B and we are D, E We thought we should name a C and have A, B, C, D, E. But when D came along, we thought all F names were terrible, so we have D.

So you're the reason I couldn't use momtoabcd :001_smile:
Yes, my kid's names do begin with A, B, C and D. How Fun!
My kids always joke about making it to the end of the alphabet.
Their names are Alyssa, Brevik, Caitlin and Daya. What are your kid's names?
BTW I'm still wanting to know the difference between the Calvert spelling Cd's

What is the difference between the old spelling cd's I've heard mentioned and the new spelling cd's? Is there a difference in content, presentation? Thanks,
Deena

Have you ever checked out Diana Waring products? She has audio cd's called What in the World is Going on Here? There are three series covering all of world history. Maybe you could get the cd's covering ancient Greece and Rome. Then add independent reading books on the time periods.

Wow! Did you retype it all to look like the workbook pages or did you scan it? :tongue_smilie: Very ambitious if you retyped it all. I'm impressed. I'm one to justify purchasing the workbook again if it means all that work.:001_smile:
