  1. Hi there, I am no longer homeschooling my oldest dd as she decided to attend our local high school. She will be taking Algebra II in Sept. and I am looking for supplemental work to help her before the school year begins to get a step ahead before the class starts. This was her request, btw. Several years back she used the Key To worksbooks when we homeschooled so I looked into that, but it doesn't look like it goes up to Algebra II (though the Algebra I is an option). Is there a workbook or material you can recommend to give her a heads start this summer before Sept. comes? Thank you so much for any tips or advice! Cristina
  2. Hi there, My dd was homeschooled up until this year, but this year she attended 6th grade at our local school. She did well in her subjects, but the common core way of math has been a little frustrating (we used RS Math/Math Mammoth). I am looking for a workbook or material to help prepare her for 7th grade math. All her friends got into the honors program and she really wants to improve and learn in advance so she will have the opportunity in 8th grade. Can anyone recommend something that will help her? A teacher at the school told me to focus on fractions, long division and solving equations with variables. Thank you so much!! Cristina
  3. Yes, it must be my acrobat reader. Will upgrade. Thank so much!! :)
  4. Hi there, I just rec'd the Light Blue Series of Math Mammoth for Grades 1-6. I just printed the entire Grade 5 for my oldest daughter and now realized each page with graphs, charts, grids, etc. (which is almost every page!!) is distorted and the numbers, measurements, etc. are not read-able. I can't read any of those numbers while looking at the pdf on the computer screen and it doesn't help when printed either in black/white or color. Did this happen to anyone else?? Yikes! I need to start our school year as we were away and are now just getting back on track... Thanks for any assistance you can give me! Cristina
  5. We have used RS Math starting with Level B and will start Level E in Sept. I have read the Key To Series are good for reinforcement (percentages, decimals, fractions) and I like the look of them online. Would you use them now while using the RS Math E level or use them after RS Math E is completed??? I'm unsure... Thank you! Cristina
  6. We loved R.E.A.L. Science for life science, earth science and chemistry. Unfortunately the physics book isn't available. Any recommendations? This would be for my 4th grader (w/ the 1st grader sitting in periodically)? Thank you so much! Cristina
  7. Hi Cinder, That's what I was planning on doing when I figure out how to combine them, BUT I'm not sure if I should combine to what my oldest is suppose to be doing and have the younger one tag along... Staring the 1st grader in Physics and SOTW 3 Or, should I backtrack - start back at SOTW 1 and Life Sciences to make it easier for the 1st grader- but expect more work and understanding for the older one (though she's done these I'm sure she'd retain more knowledge)? I guess in my mind I keep thinking 1st grade needs to start at SOTW 1 and Life Science and continue on the 4 year rotation schedule, but then it messes up with the older ones rotation... Will history be more confusing by not starting history in the beginning and/or isn't life science so fun in 1st grade learning about plants and animals and such? Thanks, Cristina
  8. Hi there, I'm hoping some of you can help me figure out how to combine science and history with my rising 1st grader and rising 4th grader. I have followed TWTM suggestions with my rising 4th grader so far, but am unsure what I should do in the Fall. 1. She is 1 year behind in SOTW as we took it slow so she is would be starting SOTW 3 instead of SOTW 4 if we stay on track. 2. She completed Chemistry (R.E.A.L. Science) this year and would be doing Physics in the Fall. BUT I have a rising 1st grader and I am unsure if I should place her in SOTW 3 and keep the cycle going where we'll eventually start up with the nomads again in two years and/or have her sit in on Physics with her sister OR if I should start at the beginning again with the little one doing both SOTW 1 and SOTW 3. ALSO, I'm not sure if I should skip Physics entirely and start with Life Science again with my rising 4th grader so they are together OR if I should mainly do Physics together and start up on life science next year. I'd like to simplify if at all possible, but don't want to make it harder for either of them or for myself. Any thoughts/suggestions for me so I can get them on the same schedule?? What would you do?? Thank You!!! :001_smile: Cristina
  9. I'm looking for some advice.... I'll soon have a 1st grader and 4th grader. My soon to be 4th grader has used SOTW and REAL Science so far following the TWTM order of history (starting with ancients, etc.) and science (life science, earth science, chemistry). My 4th grader will be starting SOTW 3 (we are a year behind) for history and (I think) REAL Science for physics. How do I throw my 1st grader into the mix??? Would it be best to start her on life science as that seems to be what is suggested for 1st grade or should I just add her into the mix and have her start with physics?? Not sure if that would be over her head, but I can't imagine teaching two science and two history curriculums in one year. Should I skip physics with my oldest daughter and have her do life science again starting up with her sister? And, what about history? Should I just start SOTW 3 with my youngest? Thanks for any and all advice! I'm at a loss here and I'm not sure where to begin... Cristina Mom of 2
  10. Hi there, My child is entering 3rd grade and we are going to start learning about the 50 states. I'd love to know if there are any books you have loved OR any websites that might have been helpful in order to learn about the states I haven't purchased anything yet, but would like to get started. Thank you for any recommendations! Cris Mom to 2 girls!
  11. Hi there, I have an 8 year old and we used Song School Latin this year. We enjoyed the program and are now ready to move on. I can't decide between LfC or LL. I'd love to know which you would recommend OR which one did you use and why did you like/dislike it??? I'd love to hear comparisons on the two and/or see if one is a better curriculum than the other. I'm having such a hard time with this decision... Thank you so much for any advice, Cris
  12. Hi there, My 2nd grader completed Song School Latin this year and loved it! I'd like to continue with Latin next year and have narrowed it down to either Lively Latin or Latin for Children, BUT I'm sooo undecided and keep going back and forth. Can someone please list the pros and cons of each (or whichever you've used and whether you liked/disliked it)? I'm hoping it'll help me make a final decision. Thank you for your help! Cristina Mom to 2 girls!
  13. Does anyone use this? We've used FLL1 and 2 so far and will probably continue with FLL3. Does using the audio companion make it more fun? Or, is it a waste of time/money (although not expensive as it's only $10)? Thank you, Cristina mom of 2 girls!
  14. I'm not even sure if there is a WWE3 curriculum. I just realized there may only be WWE1 and WWE2... oops! Maybe WT1 is the only choice I have...
