  1. I have used a variety of Latin programs and I did really like Lingua Latina. I used it with my second son when he was in high school after we were burned out with learning grammar. When we did Latin, his eyes went shut and his head nodded. Not so with Latina Lingua. I felt at least he was learning something (intuitively grasping the grammar) and actually reading, translating and understanding. Fast forward several years. I am using Latin for Children with my daughter who is now in 8th grade and we will be finished level B. I plan on going into Lingua Latina next either later this year and for sure next year in 9th grade. We are getting a little bored with LfC and I think she should have no problem with Lingua Latina. All that said, I am going to order the study guide for LL by Jeanne Neumann. I will try to link it but it sounds like it may fit the bill in the grammar department. I think this is a good stand alone program especially if you have had some Latin grammar and know how Latin works. http://www.pullins.com/Books/01917CollegeCompanion.htm Your children are much younger so you would not have to hurry through Familia Romana. According to the information about the Jeanne Neumann study guide, this book is covered in two college semesters. I plan on a pace of two years for Familia Romana in high school. With my son we did 1/2 the book in one year. imho I don't think Lingua Latina is a good supplement for once a week. The cute story about a Roman family complete with sibling rivalry and dishonest servants teaches some pretty heavy Latin and requires time and repetition to let it all soak in.
