I just got my grades back from this semester and am surprised about one of them. I really thought I had done better. I had emailed the professor earlier in the semester because I was concerned about a bad grade and she said I had a grade average of 88%. I did not get below a 90% the rest of the semester and got a 99.5% on my final. How is it possible that I got an 87.2% as my final grade. Is it possible there was a mistake? Should I ask her about it?

I have used Pimsleur for learning French. It is very effective. The information does stick really well and it feels like you'll remember it forever. My sister loves it, I decided to go with something else, though, because the repetitiveness just killed it for me. However, if this is not a problem for you, then it is a very good and effective program.

I'm majoring in history with a minor in English from Columbia College. It's a brick and mortar college that has several online degree options as well. I really love it. It's a very good school and is affordable.

I wouldn't worry about them being outside for a couple of hours at 50 degrees. It's good that you're concerned about the dogs. Little dogs can get hypothermia easily, but I think they're okay at that temperature.

A friend of mine wants me to make her a split skirt like one she has. It is a thin knit, more for summer, but she wants one made in a thicker fabric for winter. I don't have much experience with knits and don't really know how to pick them out. The different types are confusing, and she needs something within her budget as most seem to be pretty expensive.

I've never actually noticed if they watch or not, but they sure love to jump in there and go as soon as you're done. I don't know what is up with that. Sometimes I wish I knew what goes on in their heads.

My sister and I clean houses, and cleaning build up on tubs is annoyinjg because it's so hard to get that junk off. I don't think we've had a problem with iron, but the water is hard and the mineral deposits are terrible. This has been the only thing that works for us. I use one of those round little scrub brushes and rub gently and it gets everything really clean without having to scrub. People have asked us, "How do you get that off? I've been trying for years to get that off." We're just good. ;)

Awww...he's too cute. We had a cat that did something similar. She had just been fed an entire pint of chicken livers, and the minute we turned our backs, she jumped up on the counter, dragged the roast out of the pot where it was cooling, dumped it on the floor, and started eating.

We also had a dog steal a pumpkin pie off the table and eat it.

It sounds like you want a German Shepherd-except for their hair, though. We call them German Shedders around here. They are so smart and so loyal and very in tune to their owners. They love to swim and play, are very protective of kids. They will bark, but not incessantly. You need to make sure that they are OFA certified so that they don't have hip problems. We just lost ours Sunday. We had him for 11 years, and he was the absolute best dog we've ever had.

I do have one suggestion, no matter what dog you get, to wait until your current dog dies before getting a new one, because in our experience it really hurts the dog when you replace him and it is hard for an old dog to deal with having a puppy around because they can be pretty annoying for an older dog that hurts, etc.

Another great breed, in my opinion, is a standard poodle. They are great family dogs, very affectionate, and love to swim, hunt, play, etc. The only problem might be that you would have to get them groomed about every three months.

I second glucosamine supplements. They made a big difference with our German Shepherd. It also helps if we take him for a walk every day. Gentle exercise helps him, but overexertion makes him worse . It sounds like your dog is worse, though. I would really suggest taking him to the vet if at all possible. It sounds like he needs something for pain management.

[Help for Teaching the Metric System]

I'm trying to help my sister with the metric system. She had it before, she just doesn't remember it so I think she needs to take it from the beginning. I was wondering if anyone could recommend websites or books that would give a basic, clear understanding of the metric system as well as how to convert between units. Something that she could do on her own. Thanks.

If it's handled right, I love raw milk. We drink raw goat milk pretty often. We get it from someone who has only a few goats and is very clean.

 

As far as freezing it, I can only speak for goat milk, and it does not freeze well at all. It separates and you get a yellowish layer and a white layer, and you have to blend it in the blender to mix the two again, but I wouldn't drink it. I know people who freeze it and then blend it and make goat milk soap with it.
