  1. What is on the CDs? I couldn't find a sample anywhere.

Has anyone put together a schedule for Light to the Nations 1 using it as a spine, but weaving in other literature?

Am I right to think that CTP takes two volumes (L2tN1 & L2tN2) to go from Christ to Modern vs. SOTW's three volumes?

Light to the Nations 1 is on my short list for oldest dd's history next year (or History Odyssey's Level 2 Medieval), but I'm just not familiar with CTP stuff to know what I'm getting. (We are using HO this year & I like it.)

I have a schedule for LttN with other stuff mixed in. PM me if you want it.

  2. My tentative plans:

    Math: TT6 and into TT7

Language Arts: Seton Grammar, Seton Vocabulary (will use as spelling as well), Classical Compositions Narrative (possibly alternating with WWS), Literature maybe pulled from CHoL

History: Modern History (pulled together by me)

    Geography: Around the World (maybe)

    French: L'Art de Lire

Science: The Science of Cooking (using this and this)

    Music: Piano lessons

Religion: Breakthrough! Children's Bible readings and workbooks

  3. I'm using it after WWE3. I like it so far. It is well laid out and clear how to use it, though not as scripted as WWE. I think WWE was a good preparation for it actually. We'll do the Fable stage this year and then my daughter may go on to WWS, which my oldest is finishing up in a few weeks. I like Classical Compositions, but I love WWS.

  4. I have an iPod touch. My husband has an iPhone. As much as I would like to have the ability to check my email or look stuff up on the web at any time, 90% of my time I am in a place with free wifi, so the monthly cost of a smart phone wasn't worth it for me. Even our doctors and dentists have wifi. The camera isn't as good on the iPod, but it is ok. Otherwise, I think I can use pretty much all the same apps and such that my husband does.

  5. I've got EPO and red raspberry leaf tea. I can't do too much walking because I sprained my ankle. I'm not drinking castor oil. I tried that with one baby when I was several days past due, and all it did was the unpleasant clearing out. I suppose I could look suggestively at my husband.

    Any other possibilities?

  6. For a gift from your son to his friend, I'd just go with something like you would get for a birthday. I don't think it has to be a religious gift -- especially assuming that you aren't Catholic.

I don't think a gift is even strictly necessary. At my daughter's First Communion earlier this spring, she got a few cards, but gifts only from us and from her godparents.
