  1. If you do have a fracture like I did my doc said sometimes they will feel better wrapped somedays not so go with whatever felt best. He also told me and was right that even though I felt normal after a week or so coughing, laughing or sneezing could reaggravate the issue. Hiccups can do it too. Ibuprofen really helped mine. Good luck and take it easy.

  2. Growing up in girlville I was completely unprepared for boys. I think the biggest thing was the mood swings that come around age 11. I thought girls were the moody one. YIKES! Actually asked our dr if I needed to take the oldest to a therapist. I finally figured out he was sayng no through his laughs. Also boys have to touch poke or somehow breathe on everything. Especially each other. Then there are what we call boy noises that they can create on demand. And whoever said they are smell was oh so right.

  3. I have some familythat don't like leftovers that come in the same state as they were originally. So I make soup, pot pies and enchiladas all weekend. But if someone came and stayed at my house and were that rude I would probably draw a map to McDonalds for them. Oh wait I have when after working for hours my bil sits down looks at the main course of chicken and pasta with pesto and says he doesn't eat anything green in front of my kids. I guess I have trouble with that. Oops!

  4. My kids love their ds games. They have had them since they wre first introduced. We do still limit the use of them but even so they have been worn ragged. They have asked for the new updated versions for Christmas and if I can find good deals we will do it. They are also awsome on trips. We also have a wii but they seem to like the handhelds better really. The kids could explain the techy stuff but it makes my eyes roll. Sorry not much help other than to say for us they are great.

  5. REWARDS works on this by having the student correct words that have the wrong syllable accented and/or the wrong vowel sound. It works well there because of the context in a sentence.

Are you using REWARDS? If not, I can give you an overview of how it teaches decoding multisyllable words.

My 11yo's biggest problem comes with words he hasn't heard before - he doesn't know *how* they should sound, so he couldn't even begin to guess whether his pronunciation is off or not.

Sorry to hijack this but I would love to know more about rewards.

  6. So far only my oldest has made it to driving age and he waited until he was 18 to get his license. I pushed him a bit as he had had the permit forever. His dad still can't figure out why he didn't want it. I think he was afraid of being in a wreck. Now he is my chief errand runner and chauffuer for the youngers. That said I imagine his younger sister will have me down there on the day of her 16th birthday. Guess they need to pick for themselves.
