On Dr. Fuhrman’s Ask the Doctor forum, he has said that one glass of mixed vegetable juice per day is fine as long as you are eating tons of other veggies, including a big salad every day. He says vegetable juice is okay as a supplement to your diet but should not be your major source of veggies. I don’t think he recommends consuming fruit juice at all, just whole fruit. Hope that helps!
Thank you!! I appreciate your help!

I'm wondering, will juicing in the mornings hinder me from losing weight? I've read opposing things. Some articles say it helps with weight loss, but most articles I read advise that it will make you hang onto visceral fat.

Eight pounds in three weeks is excellent progress! Dr. Fuhrman says that if you are overweight and eating Nutritarian 100%, you should be losing at least two pounds per week - so you are doing fantastic! That is about the rate that I lost my weight, and it wasn't totally linear and didn't always make sense. I had some weeks when I didn't lose at all and some weeks when I would drop 4 pounds, despite eating the same things.
I haven't heard him say that you should expect to lose 20 pounds a month - I've only heard him say that some people who stay at his retreat will drop a pound a day while they are there, and I think those are people who have a very large amount of weight to lose.
Keep up the great work!
Thank you! I feel better knowing that it is not linear and not everyone loses that fast!
Friday:
Breakfast: carrot/celery juice; smoothie with banana, strawberries, almond milk.
Lunch: I completely fell off the wagon for lunch. We came back from errands with only 30 minutes for me to get ready for work. I had veggies with hummus and was still hungry, so with no time to make something for myself, I ate about 4 oz of the steak and an egg that I was making for the rest of the family.
Dinner: Back on track. A huge salad.

Thursday:
Breakfast: carrot/celery juice, smoothie with banana, strawberries and almond milk
Lunch: 1 slice of Ezekiel toast with red pepper hummus, sprouts and avocado, huge salad with assorted greens and veggies
Dinner: I was in a hurry and didn't have time to make anything, so I has a smoothie with a banana, almond milk, 1 tbsp. Sun butter, 2 tbsp. Cacao powder, cinnamon.
I only lost .6 lbs at my weigh in. Currently in 3rd place. I know it's not about the weight, but I'm still kind of discouraged. I know that Dr. Furhman advises that you can lose 20 lbs. in one month, but I have only lost 8 lbs in 3 weeks. I really don't know what im doing wrong, but if anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

Maybe I can combine the split peas with something else ie. split pea and spinach or something. Any ideas?
I have a great recipe for split pea soup with asparagus. It's from the book Veggie Mama. I think it's something like a bag of split peas with a bunch of asparagus, vegetable broth, and when the peas and asparagus are soft you blend it in a blender or with an immersion blender. It's really good.

Tuesday:
Breakfast: half of a smoothie (my daughter ate the other half 🤣), banana
Lunch: salad, veggie stir fry, brown rice
Dinner: vegetable bean soup
According to myfitnwsspal, I didnt have enough calories today, so I may try to eat something else. I felt like I needed to eat, like I was getting a blood sugar problem, kind of loopy, but yet I wasn't really hungry and didn't even finish all the rice at lunch. Not sure what that's about.

I'm so sorry. What a hard thing to go through! My mom has had to put a couple of dogs down, and she always took them to their favorite spot one last time and fed them a really good meal of steak or whatnot. The thing she regrets and still grieves over to this day is that she waited so long. She sees more now how they were suffering more than she realized at the time and she has a lot of guilt over that. I am sorry, it is so hard.

Your salad sounds so yummy. I keep planning to buy pistachios to put on salads, then forget. Do you buy or make the seven seed topper? I have been topping my salads with pumpkin and sunflower seeds, hemp hearts and ground flax. I would like to expand on that.
I signed up for a regenerative health conference and listened to two of the talks today. The one by Dr Fuhrman was fabulous. It was all info I have heard or read before and knew on one level, but it really hit me today.
That sounds amazing!

I've missed a day but ignorance is bliss, so I'll do yesterday:
B: greens with scrambled egg whites, avocado, walnuts, lemon vinaigrette
L: forget
S: stir-fried bok choi, salad with lots of veggies, gf almond tuilles.
I guess if I'm really going to participate I should write it down. I forget what I've eaten so quickly. I did much better yesterday with going back to no snacking. Even small snacks set off big hunger for me, and it doesn't get going if I don't snack at all.
You are doing great! Not snacking was so hard at first for me. I did't think I'd make it, lol.
Saturday:
Breakfast: Didn't have time to juice as the kids had a make up ballet class this morning. Lol, my oldest didn't know what a make up class meant and thought she was going to be doing makeup.
Had my usual, bananas, strawberries, walnuts, flax meal, almond milk.
Lunch: yummy salad with shredded lettuce, yellow bell pepper, tomatoes, cucumbers, radish, and chickpeas. Ezekiel toast with hummus and avocado
Dinner: pinto beans and brown rice
I feel liken I'm getting into a groove of eating the same things. It's not tiresome though, I just feel like that's what I like.
