  1. Thanks everyone! We've moved onto lowercase (she's more excited about learning them than she was uppercase). I'm continuing to review them using flashcards and an upper/lowercase magnet set she got for Christmas (took forever to find. Most only have capital letters.) Taking it one day at a time and she'll get it when she get's it. On the bright side, since we added the magnets, my 3yo son who can barely talk due to a speech problem has started to pick a few here and there to say either the name or sound. Gotta say, family learning at its best!
  2. Thanks for the input! I'll keep moving and just keep reviewing the uppercase letters with her.
  3. The only leapfrog video with blending that I can think of is Letter Factory and it was a short segment near the end. It's presented in a very up-beat song that my kids (3&4) love. If your interested, they have all of the movies on netflix.
  4. I've been using the All About Reading Pre-Reading program with my 4yo. We've gone through the first section on capital letters and she was doing awesome. Then, as we hit the last five or so letters, she's suddenly getting mixed up (I/Y, W/M/N, U/Q). It's understandable since the letters have a visual or audible similarity. Any tips on helping her remember them? She's very determined to move on to lowercase but I don't wan't to rush into it before she has a firm grasp on uppercase.
  5. While all of the articles were helpful, this was definitely insightful. I'm gonna keep looking into it, but I'm pretty sure that Latin will be a part of our curriculum. Hopefully it'll help our kids get over the hurdles we faced in school.
  6. I'm new to homeschooling and looking around at the different methods/approaches. So far, I'm liking what I'm seeing about the classical approach. While I fully intend on having my kids learn a second language later on, I was wondering what the benefits of teaching Latin would be and, if it's something I wanted to take on, when would be the best time to start introducing it. Thanks for any help/insights you can give me!
