Mandamom
I started on the boards back when we raced to be first to "flip" the board. :) Anyway, when we started homeschooling, it was because school wasn't working. Since he's my stepson, I had to convince his mother to let me homeschool him (he and his brother were living with his dad and I) I ended up pulling him and when we started school work, I had to use materials two years below his level due to gaps. Writing was a horrendous experience although IEW helped a lot. By the time 8th grade came along, it was time for him to go back to school and he and his brother moved back in with mom full-time. It was time and there were no hard feelings, except mom wanted me to keep him home but I knew that wasn't the right decision. Fast forward through high school graduation, an attempt at college, full-time work and a couple of girl friends. He has been active on Youtube for years. A few years ago he started writing a horror podcast called Sable and it has a following. (Yeah!) I just heard from his mom and he just completed his first audiobook narration job and has a contract for a second one. He is absolutely thrilled, as we are. He may go back to college eventually but he's pretty happy. I just wanted to share. His trek has been atypical but it is working for him. I just wanted to share. (BTW, if you decide to google Sable podcast you can find it easily. Just be warned, it is definitely rated R for language. )
