My non-writing boy now tells me....

so far in his community college classes he's done decently on quizzes (75-80% range) and gotten all A's on his presentations and papers....the two things he absolutely HATED me for requiring. I told him he owes it all to growing up *hearing* good literature read to him and he said, yes, he can't expllain it but he just knows good writing when he hears it.

 

Now, there's a considerable portion of teen self-promotion in there, but I really do think that he learned good writing in spite of his resistance, mostly from being read to by me or the books on tape as we drove up & down the freeway. This kid is now majoring in speech communication and business marketing. LOL LOL LOL
