vonfirmath
DS is in 1st grade this year. The Gifted program. We've struggled all year with his writing -- he's getting better. His handwriting, while still LARGE is more readable and he does not write backwards letters anymore (or rather, when he does, he notices, erases and writes it correctly) But he doesn't write fast enough! He can answer questions verbally fine. But even writing a short paragraph seems to be beyond him. Not in the amount of writing it is -- he can copy quite a bit of writing before complaining that his hand hurts. But something about putting his ideas down on paper really seems to be a blockage for him. I know, next year, in 2nd grade, they are going to expect more of that. So I'd like to do some simple practicing over the summer. Any ideas?
vonfirmath
Yes. He writes very fast when copying. In fact he sometimes draws "Fingers" between words to keep his words from being all smushed together.
