The ability to Riddle (like in The Hobbit)

Does anyone else feel like this is a lost art?

 

My son and I really enjoyed the riddle scene in the book, and

it was awesome in the movie!

 

Since we saw the movie, my kids have been

playing 'riddles' (making up very silly ones),

and I was just wondering if there are any actual resources for teaching "Riddling"?

I'd love to know! DS likes treasure hunts, so occasionally I've been confiscating his Lego Advent calendar while he sleeps and leaving the first in a series of clues that he has to solve to find it again. I try really hard to come up with clever riddles, but it's hard!
