MomsintheGarden
We like the McGraw-Hill prep book, plus actual released exams that you can usually buy very inexpensively from the CB.
Kareni
I think we are able to get our hands on the Chalkdust SAT review so I'm thinking of having dd work through that in September before starting TT Pre-Calc. I'm wondering how long the Chalkdust really takes to get through. If I recall correctly, the Chakdust DVDs were about 14 hours long. I had my teen watch the DVD and stop it whenever she needed/wished to work a problem. She also did several practice tests (in their entirety) as well as worked through math sections in the big blue book. Ideally, I'd start the Chalkdust program about 8 weeks before the test for maximum effect. I should mention that this was in addition to her math studies at the time (College Algebra). HomeOnTheRanch
DS used the Kaplan computer software (contained PSAT, SAT, and ACT). He did quite well on the PSAT (235). He continued using that along with additional essays and tests from test prep books (Barron's, harder in his opinion that actual test, but it worked well for him) we checked out from the library for the SAT he took last spring (2280). We bought the software a few years ago from Rainbow Resource for about $30 IIRC. I don't have the program in front of me, but the RR catalog is sitting here... Item #023873 for $38.95 looks similar, but it says it is no longer associated with Kaplan. HTH and you can find something that fits your student! nynyny
I believe the PSAT tests are no longer available through Collegeboard, if that's what you're referring to. We like the McGraw-Hill prep book, plus actual released exams that you can usually buy very inexpensively from the CB.
MomsintheGarden
I believe the PSAT tests are no longer available through Collegeboard, if that's what you're referring to. Yes, that's it. I looked for them briefly before posting about them, but attributed not being able to find them to my poor searching. I purchased the following released PSAT exams on 9/24/2010: 2006 Form S, 2007 Form S, 2007 Form W, 2008 Form A, 2008 Form S, 2009 Form S, and 2009 Form W. The tests cost $3 each and the answer keys were free downloadable pdfs. I hope the CB will make them available again soon. You may want to contact them to find out. speedmom4
My daughter is currently working through the McGraw Hill PSAT prep book. We really like it. It is very organized. It was recommended to me here on WTMB. It has been our favorite test prep book. God Bless, Elise in NC
