Math Mammoth, how do you like it?

I want something right now that I can start, for ds-6 & ds-8, I just bought some cheap workbooks at the beginning of the year and I don't like them. Does anyone use Math Mammoth? How do you like it. I can get two books to print off for less than $10.00, are they worth it? (at least if I'm figuring right)

Or any other programs that can be downloaded and printed off, something to keep me on track.

Thanks,

Kristine

I've been using the gr3 multiplication set with my 9yo daughter who hates math. (She was struggling with Miquon and it seemed like a good time to work on math facts). It has worked really really well - has enough review and a good mix of interesting tasks as well as routine problems. She did already know the principles of multiplication, though, and I think if the ideas had been brand new to her, it maybe introduced the concepts a little too quickly.

I'll definitely be getting more to use as supplements along the way, but I don't think I'll use it as my main curriculum. Instead I plan to switch to Singapore for our main math program after Miquon (the same path I used with my older one who is now on New Syllabus Math).

Another online program I've used is from LearnNC, and it's free. Go here and choose the Resources for the right grade level, then choose the Week by Week Essentials. I've used these worksheets for both my kids to keep me on track when we've needed a break from our regular curriculum, and to keep up skills over the summer break.

I am using the Light Blue seies (complete curriculum) with ds6. We both love it. I have used Singapore k1&2 and 1A with him. He got all the concepts with Singapore, but just did not like it. Even though I used Singapore for several years with ds10, and it worked well, we never liked it.

From what I understand, so far MM only has complete curriculums for grades1-3. Everything else is still supplemental worksheets. Ds10 used nutshell math (part of the cosmeo.com service, but I think also available alone) and MM worksheets to fill in some small gaps before we started Algebra1. It would be fairly simple to use Nutshell, or something similar, combined with MM for a complete math program.
