Pam B
Hello all~ I'm looking for anyone who has used TRISMS curriculum, whether you liked it or hated it, I'd love to hear what you have to say about it. Why was it great, or not so great? Did you tweak it? What type of learner & teaching style does it suit best? I asked about this in the high school forum, and received a few great replies, now I'm curious if anyone else has any more input that can help me make this decision. A little back ground~ Two youngest (boys, ages 11 & 12) have done Essentials in Classical Conversations. Daughter- age 14 has finished Challenge A in Classical Conversations, but we are in the middle of possibly moving, and where we are going has no CC--- so....... I'm thinking of at the least having DD do TRISMS (Expansion of Civilization), although I'd be happy to hear any reviews and comments for other years of TRISMS. Will be in... DS 6th grade DS 7th grade DD 9th grade THANK YOU ALL SOOOO MUCH!

Guest Cheryl in SoCal
I answered your post on the HS Board but will give this a bump for you:001_smile: My guess is you won't get many hits here because it's a high school curriculum.

Guest Cheryl in SoCal
And I did appreciate your reply very much on the HS board. :) I thought TRISMS is for grades 5-12? History Makers is for Middle School/Jr High School and is different from the rest of the volumes. It is an overview of history and you study scientists, inventors and explorers instead of civilizations. Most use it in 7th or 8th, some using it over 2 years if they use it in younger children (6th and 7th). Personally, I don't care for it nearly as well as I do the High School volumes and doubt I will use it with my younger children. If it did, I wouldn't use it until 7th or 8th grade. The rest of the volumes are for High School but the first (Discovering the Ancient World) can be used in 8th grade. There are 4 volumes that move chronologically from Creation through Modern times beginning in the first volume and ending in the last. You study civilizations in-depth, studying everything about them (art, music, architecture, religion, literature, etc). I hope that helps :)
