againes Posted July 22, 2009 Share Posted July 22, 2009 I am looking into doing the Omnibus I program along with the 3rd time through books in Bibloplan for my 11,13, and 15 year old children. I was adding the Omnibus in hopes of getting more analysis and different books for the 15 yo. I was hoping to do these together with the younger children. After looking at the Omnibus I don't see Egypt covered. We always loved that section in ancient history as it fit so well with the Bible. Is it covered in Omnibus? Do anyone have experience in smushing this all together for lots of ages. History and literature along with the read alouds have always been our favorite part of the day. Do I need to just have the older kids do the Omnibus separate from the regular history program that is basis around sonlight and bibloplan? Thanks Adelia Unfortunately, Egypt is not really covered in Omnibus I, although the other readings in Spielvogel's Western Civilization undoubtedly cover Egypt, if you do the entire chapters in Spielvogel rather than the small sections of readings which are recommended in the Omnibus book. When we used Omnibus I, my two older girls were 14 and 12, and I had them work Omnibus separately from their younger sister, who was not quite 10. I had the youngest doing Story of the World I. I'm sure it's possible to combine aspects of the program, but Omnibus in and of itself is pretty intense and high level.
