JoLuRu Posted August 2, 2012 Share Posted August 2, 2012 I took college algebra earlier this summer at a business oriented college. Each formula was explained in its business context. I struggled a bit with it, having been out of school for 15 years!, but seeing its real life application and working and reworking the problems with a patient instructor made it come to life for me. Having had two years of high school algebra buried in my head definitely helped! I think algebra is necessary and useful in everyday life and will encourage my kids to take math even after it's hard and doesn't feel useful.
