iPhone app: Mealboard vs Menu Planner

Recommended Posts

I'm looking at purchasing one of these apps for help in meal planning and grocery shopping. I believe that Menu Planner has the option of generating a grocery list for more than one store. For example, I purchase some items from Trader Joes, some from Costco, and some from a regular grocery store. I need an app that will let me generate three lists otherwise I might as well continue as I have been by manually writing out a list each week. What I don't know is if Mealboard will allow me to do that as well. I've read that Mealboard is easier to use, but if it doesn't have what I need, and all items are generated on one general store list, then it's useless to me.

Can those of you who use either of these give me some insight into the pros and cons of each? I would be forever grateful for your help! :D If only they were free apps, or had trial periods where you could try them before you buy them. :tongue_smilie:

Technically MealBoard does not let you set up different stores....but you could customize the setting so that instead of it saying Produce or Meat as the header to that section, it would say Trader Joe Produce, Costco Produce ect. But you would have to set it up that way and divide it up that ways in your ingredients list that you do with each recipe, because that is where you put it in at...

MealBoard does move a checked item off your list...so if you get something at Trader Joes it won't show up when you go to your next store. HTH
