LNC
Which would you choose as a follow up to cheap Chalkdust Algebra 1? I pieced together cheap Chalkdust algebra 1 & 2 using the wtm board's isbn #s. I found the Geometry text that Chalkdust uses, but I had trouble finding the dvds and gave up after the solutions manual I bought only had answers without full solutions. Only Chalkdust made the corresponding full solutions apparently. So: Chalkdust Geometry $394 http://www.chalkdust.com/geom.html Duke Tip Geometry $102 plus the cost of the used text http://www.tip.duke.edu/node/
nynyny
http://www.amazon.com/Tutorial-Dvds-Alexander-Elementary-Geometry-Students/dp/0618645330 http://www.homeschoolclassifieds.com/curriculum.asp?lng=Math:%20Algebra,%20Calculus,%20Geometry,%20etc.&shrt=MU&page=2 My ds didn't like Chalkdust Geometry. Felt the text and videos didn't always match up well, and I've heard others express similar opinions. He didn't feel that way about any of the other math levels. Teachin'Mine
Dd used Jurgensen's on her own. It's not ideal as the solutions manual is really just an answer key, but we managed. It's an excellent and very thorough geometry text with all the theorems, definitions and postulates. It's helpful to have someone well versed in geometry to look at the student's proofs to know if their way was 100 pct with no missed steps or wrong reasoning. If that's what the TIP program provides, then that would be a positive. The solutions manual only gives one possible proof, but most can be proven several different ways. I'm not at all familiar with Chalkdust.
