  1. Then you do the best you can to stay healthy, whatever your size, and chunk out societal preconceived notions of what is currently thought of as "pretty" or "healthy looking". Exercise, good choices in foods that work well for YOUR body, plenty of quality sleep, etc. should be the main goal, not thinness. KWIM?

Oh, and the link only sent me to several D-Day articles...sorry I couldn't see what you were trying to link. :(

YES. I'm slow clapping over here.

  2. Just thought of another one - I have always been deathly afraid that one of us will back over a small child. Thankfully, mine are taller than me now, but at any family gathering, I freak when someone goes to move a vehicle. I have to find every child and make sure they're okay. If I'm backing out, I try to keep all the kids in my line of sight, even if they're yards in front of me. It seriously scares me.

That's legit. My Great Aunt ran over her two year old. So awful. Its nearly impossible to see a small child behind a vehicle.

  3. A few weeks ago I found a pre-k curriculum that involved learning about different places around the world. I *think* it was called Explore the World. It was free, secular (not 100% sure about this), and downloadable. I've googled and googled but have been unable to find it. Any ideas? I'm beginning to think I made it up!

They're very cool, and they're supposed to be more fun with a light table.

    Has he tried any Playmobil?

Yes! I had my dad purchase these for my kids at Christmas. They are one of the few things they play with daily. They are spendy, but I think there are some generic brands. I don't know how strong the magnets are, though.

I think you should consider the fact that a number of the posters here recognized that block-quote as being problematic even before we google searched it, and then ask yourself why you didn't.

I've been following along and am curious to your answer to this, too. It only takes a sentence or two in to realize it was an unreliable and sensationalized article.

  6. While the status of civil rights is a lot different today than it was at different times in history, the nature of intelligent, well-meaning human beings has not changed that much. The ability to have two-sided or multi-sided debates is what produces social progress.

I don't recall much two sided debating in the 60s when African Americans wanted social progress. Unless of course you count hangings, church bombings and being doused with a fire hose as one side of a debate.
