  1. I text and post like that on my FB. (2morrow, 2nite, peeps, ttyl/s ect.) But one thing I can't stand is when people write ma instead of my. (Goin out wit ma girls 2nite) If you are using the same amount of letters for any given word than you should most def. spell the word correctly;)

I think our minds just work to fast for our hands. I don't give a crap about gram. usage or mechanics on social networks (such as this one) though.

However, I do understand your frustration, as I have seen some post where people had to go out of their way to shorten their sentences and it does come across super awkward.

  2. You're right. Like I said, I was posting while I was feeling a little toooo overly sensitive. I feel like a dweeb for posting it now.

Don't back down, no need to feel like a dweeb. My reaction was exactly the same when I read those posts. We are in that specified bracket, yet we still managed to be responsible adults and save up past our 6 mos. of expenses for situations like this and we too have access to credit cards, although we will not need to rely on them. I can easily see why you responded the way you did. The truth is there will be E's and O's who will be hurting badly by this and there will E's and O's who will merely be experiencing more annoyance than anxiety. I'm glad your family is also in the latter catergory ;)

  3. Quote by Secular Mom

" What if God is real and he's the bad guy and he overthrew Lucifer? I mean, if *I* was really the bad guy in that whole story then I'd be sure to write a book about myself that made me look good and made people distrust the good guy. :tongue_smilie:"

Wow, I never thought outside the box like that before. Great food for though. I like it!

  4. I've had to tell my MIl that our ds would not be spending the nite with her before. It hurt her feelings and she kept making the already hard situation more uncomfortable by asking, "why, don't you trust me.?" We didn't because she likes to over-indulge in her vino on a nightly basis, which is fine but not when she has my kid in her care.

Stick hard and stick fast to your initial reaction-it usually never fails you ;)

  5. It's not a calling, it's a decision. And it's a decision that may be best for your family one year and not the next.

Homeschooling is something that I evaluate every year to see if it will still work for the following school year.

Now, I'm not saying pull them out, put them in and pull them back out of school willy-nilly every other year, but knowing that I make the decision to homeschool based completely on my own will and life circumstances allows me to keep an open mind to really awesome alternatives for the future.

  6. The science section is outside our restrooms. The sexuality books are near the front of the store.

And about Blockbuster-not only do they not care about their customers, but they never stand up for their employees either when they are being blasted for things out of their control by customers. They have always lined up new releases alphabetically though, so that is prob. the reason for Hannah M. and the latest Halloween movie.

  7. I strongly believe the majority of these guys were Deist. (And I was sooo relieved to hear the Priest state this himself at RC church I visited the other Sunday. )

To think they believed/behaved as the christian men of this day do, is a misunderstanding. IMO.

  8. As far as collectivist/totalitarian societies go as in The Giver, I absolutely recommend Anthem by Ayn Rand. It is a short book, however, I can't remember if it would be more of a high school read. (Nothing inappropriate that I can recall, it just may be too philosophically advanced)

You can also get free lesson plans for it from the Ayn Rand Institute website.
