I have run across information about DBQ's in relation to the AP History Exam and was wondering if anybody knows a good resource for teaching them. Specifically, some examples in world history.

Yes, I think this would be an excellent combo. WTTW is stand alone, but TTC and EIL would fit together beautifully. TTC for you and EIL for the student. I'm not sure I would use TTC methods with all of the books though. Also, TTC recommends beginning instructional with a children's book. I think that is very valuable to get a feel for what analysis looks like.

I'm just going to say that "The Abolition of Man" was a difficult read for me as an adult. Good, but difficult.

Look at How to Teach Spelling and the accompanying workbooks. Get the light blue workbook. Do two pages a day, three days per week and do dictation from the book on the other 2 days. This will take about 15 minutes tops.

We did a cruise. It was fantastic! Might consider that option with kids.

She will be too modest to say so, and her low post count doesn't reflect it, but M-mv has been around these boards providing inspiration and participating in thought-provoking conversations since the very early days. She is most definitely a homeschooler. :D

I don't think any of those statements qualify as thesis statements. The phrase "we will see" is what creates the problem for me in the last two. The first papragraph uses the same wording. The last paragraph is the only one with a clear thesis, however, it is over generalized and will be almost impossible to prove.

Math Mammoth 6 covers those things. We just started it, but in looking forward I see all of those topics covered. It starts in fifth using bars like Singapore. I think it's a great program.

I don't have a newer edition of TWTM, but in older editions, the instructions was to outline Knigfisher. I think that is why there is confusion over this issue. The instructions changed.
I'm grateful for the change, because I agree it is very difficult to do.

Above could be an adverb, but in this sentence it is a preposition with the object us. Then, the prepositional phrase acts as an adverb. Right?

My internet service is so spotty at home that we have a hard time watching videos online. It's a terrible thing. I miss so much.

I just downloaded the fractions 2 in the blue series. I think it combines the fraction lessons from grades 5 and 6. I've been doing about a section a day with ds. Some days it's 2 pages ad sometimes 4. There have been a couple of days that we didn't finish, or I felt he needed another day on a topic. Even though this wasn't all about dividing fractions, the previous lessons were a nice intro. So, even though we had covered adding and multiplication, I went ahead and re-did those using her methods. I think it helped.
We're gonna start the grade 6 after the 1st. This is back-tracking a little for us, but since the concepts are presented a little differently, I thought it wouldn't hurt to run though all of it.

I love the way Math Mammoth teaches dividing fractions. It's the explanation that I always needed but never had. I had never used this curriculum before. I was just unhappy with all the other ways of teaching I had come across in my current math curriculum. I downloaded this and now I'm hooked. My son is understanding without a hitch.

I would not suggest skipping 7/6. I would allow her to take the tests for 7/6 until she receives less than 85%. Pick up there with daily lessons, then do the same thing when she reaches the next book. She will most likely take the same amount of time with this approach, but she will not miss any crucial introductions to topics.

There are all sorts of people who come here. Some whose children attend public school. I would say you are definitely still welcome.

See, the confusion comes because previous editions of TWTM actually did call for outlining Kingfisher. The steps were a little different, too.
I actually like the new way better, because I could never find a main topic in Kingfisher. The text is too dense.
This is why HO is set up in the way it is.

Okay! It took me a while to figure out Springfield brackets, but KC East Lions won the 5A Varsity bracket. We got 4th in 6A behind Illinois Crusaders, PT Warriors, and the Texas Tornadoes. We had to beat the Tornadoes in Omaha.

Yes! We got 4th in that tournament. There were a lot of the same teams at the other and then some new ones. We've played in Springfield 2 years.

I don't brag much, but I'm just so excited. Since this is a homescholling community, I thought you guys might help me celebrate!!!!!
There were 30 teams from Baltimore to Houston and our team won. We are from Little Rock. We've been going for 10 years, got 3rd once, but have never won it.

Shelly, how are you all doing? When do you play again? We won our game, so we play in the finals tomorrow at 4:00.
My favorite moment so far is when a team we were playing was up 25 to 24 when it appeared that we hit one out, and therefore the other team won. Then, one of their players admitted to tipping and the game continued. We ended up winning. All of our parents were in tears to think that girl was that honest.
Amazing!
