  1. Now this info was for Oregon, but keep looking, finding comparable houses/properties in the area and print out the sale listing. Call a realtor and ask them to come out and look at your property and tell you what they would list it for. Ask if they know of any comparable properties that are for sale now or sold recently, etc.

In Oregon, if the home owners would not cooperate, the state would just condemn the property and take it anyways.

Try to see if you area has any lawyers that deal with this kind of thing. They may be willing to do a free consult. Or maybe you may need one anyways if your state is one that uses lawyers for property transactions.

Also, some states might be willing to move your house to another property nearby. See if that is an option. If it is, call about price quotes. You need to be informed and prepared. They will most likely try to get away with giving you as little as possible, but if you are prepared with the above they usually decide it is easier to give you what you want, if possible, than to fight it out.

Again, this based on working in the OR Process and Condemnation Section. Michigan laws may be different.

ETA: Don't just look at prices, make copies, print out examples, etc.

  2. NO WAY would she be allowed to come in my house! Even if there was no party.

You mentioned that babies were going to be there....how would you feel if one of those babies got it and you had to look their parents in the face and tell them that you KNOWINGLY allowed it to happen. That you allowed a contagious person into you home and exposed their baby!

I am not sure, but you could end up being sued by the parents.

  3. It IS BP's Fault. Even Tony Hayward admitted that much.

They chose to use riskier procedures (against advisement) and were more concerned with saving money and time! They have had so many safety violations that I think they should be banned from ever drilling ANYWHERE in the U.S. or U.S. waters!

I agree that he was just a stonewalling puppet that just repeated the same thing over and over.

  4.

As I stated in my post that you quoted, I was talking about the fox article about the woman from Arizona that is a U.S. citizen. Not the one the OP posted about.

  5. :iagree:

They gave him the questions beforehand so he would be prepared! I LOVED it when Tony Hayward was asked if he was this uncooperative and stonewalling the other investigations as well. lol All Mr Hayward is saying is sorry, I was not apart of that decision...ok then WHO was. Oh and when he said it was the drilling team on the rig...nice, blame it on the DEAD drilling team. Not like they can defend themselves! (that was sarcasm!)

  6. Could you believe the lady in the audience with the oil or what is supposed to be oil on her face? I feel for the people sitting near her that got trampled in the process.

I also could not believe that it was an hour of opening statements that where mostly all saying the same thing!! I loved the lady that said she would submit her opening statement for the record but would not say it, in the interest of getting things moving along. More people should have followed her example.

  7. Alright, I REALLY don't like the congressman from Alabama!! He is saying this is NOT the worst environmental disaster that will happen to the US :glare:and that we should remember that more people die from cancer related to cigarette smoking....WHAT!!!! :confused:What does that have to do with anything? You can tell the states that do not want drilling to be interrupted or affected by this disaster. UGH!:banghead:
