  1. I think something else might have been going on with your daughter's scores. The change in percentiles, when looking at the same grade and the same testing time with the two different sets of norms, there is only a drop in a few percentile points (for example, a 4th grader scoring at the 99th percentile in the fall with the 2008 norms, would score in the 95th percentile with the new norms and a 4th grader scoring at the 90th percentile with the old norms would score at the 87th percentile with the new norms).

     

     

    I'm sorry I was a bit off .. her spring '11 reading rit was 191. 2008 norms that is 98th percentile. 2011 norms it is 83rd percentile. (spring first grade)

  2. is it NWEA MAP testing? They changed the norms this fall and many high end kids dropped in percentile. For example last spring my dd tested in the 98th percentile for reading but under the new norms it was the 79th percentile. After winter MAP she was back in the 94th percentile.
