The pencils in my house just mysteriously disappear. I feel like pencils are always on my list of supplies to buy.

I asked for a GC for a massage and then told him I found a Groupon. :001_smile:

OK the first ones that came to mind were Jaws, then Rollerball. I was 11.
I'm sure my parents took me to see Disney films when I was younger, but the scary/violent ones popped into my memory first, go figure.

Nutribullet
Fleece lounge pants & shirt
Groupon for a 90 minute massage
The Nutribullet came yesterday I think the kids are more excited than DH.

If the layout is the only problem you can print it with more white space. I have read here where some ladies were doing that because it was too busy for their kids.
Can anyone tell me how to print MM with more space on each page?
Thx

So do all of you think a reasonable combination would be LoF and MM topical workbooks where needed?
We have used CLE from 1-3, but I knew we would switch after grade 3.
Yes, that is what it sounds like to me. But I'm a rebel and I will use Fred as our main math with a supplement. :001_smile:

Plus, on the Fred website, they reccomend Professor B math if you want a companion.
Hmm, I totally missed that. I'll have to check out Professor B.

We use MM and LoF. My girls took a bit to adjust to MM when I pulled them from ps, but now they do 2 pages a day 4 days a week with no problem.
2 pages of MM seems doable. How many lessons for LoF are you able to fit in each week? Or do you just plug it in here and there?

MM Dark Blue and Key to...
Is this the topical series? I just purchased MM Fractions I to give it a try. For $3.50 I figured I couldn't go wrong.

Saxon 3 times a week and Life of Fred 2 times a week. I've thought of having my 14 yo just do Freddie awhile because she says it's harder than Saxon.
LoF Fractions is the first book where I can see the problems getting more challenging and thought provoking. The algebra books look interesting, but we are not quite there yet.

My son (the one who uses LoF as his main math) used to freak out if there wasn't white space on his paper. He tried MM and Singapore and he would literally start crying during math time. He would also write the answers under the wrong problems without realizing, which makes me think the visuals are just too distracting. Have you tried putting the problems on a dry erase board? I think that's why my son likes LoF so much. We work the problems on a dry erase board. Also, he prefers 5 really difficult problems to 300 repetitive problems (his older sister is like that, too). Mine don't like repetition for some reason.
Yes we like doing problems on the white board, or I have him spread them out on notebook paper.

CLE
I am not too familiar with this one, I'll have to check it out.

I've been looking at MM, but the pages look so busy/crowded. There just seems like there is not enough white space. I recently purchased one of the Fraction books from MM. I'll let DS try it out and see if he feels the same way about the layout.

Right now my DS is using MUS Epsilon and Life of Fred Fractions. Epsilon is feeling disjointed for him, and we have been watching Khan Academy videos to supplement most of the topics in MUS.
So I am looking for suggestions. If you use LoF, what do you use alongside or as a supplement?
Thanks!

I would argue that 24 history sentences is not enough bones, and in order to keep up the pace, important periods in history have to be skipped. SOTW has 42 chapters and we'd have to read several per week to keep up with that pace (as it is, we can barely get through one chapter a week, supplementing it with the complementary materials). And the science jumps all over the place, so I wouldn't find continuity with that either.
Then again, maybe it could work well for those who don't put the same emphasis on history that our family does. I'll blame SWB for that ;)
You should not assume since we use the history sentences as our starting point, that we do not have a strong emphasis on history. We do not skip important periods of history. We take our time, it is not a race. We make the program work for us. No two families in our community do things at home in the same way.

I use bookfinder.com
It searches several bookseller sites and then gives you a listing according to price - both new and used. You can search by title and ISBN.

I'm sorry you did not have a good experience in your community.
I would like to address the "memorizing out of context" issue. The way we approach our CC memory work at home is to dig into the history sentence and science each week. CC provides us with the "bones" and then we put the "meat" on that skeleton throughout the year. We can do as much or as little as we want for each subject.

Thank you and you're welcome, absolutely they need to respond. But I do not force my children to hug or say I love you to anyone. It needs to be their idea. I have nieces and nephews that need to "make the rounds" before leaving a family gathering. These kids are just doing it to please their parents, there is no emotion in their hugs at all. It feels cold and forced. I actually think it is quite sad they are made to do this.

We found this little video tutorial extremely helpful. It was put together by a mom on this board.

The dr. keeps telling me he isn't going to "let" me go past the 10 day mark...
No experience with refusing an induction, but the dr's attitude really irks me.
Hopefully you will have a stress-free birth whenever your sweet baby is ready.

How do you know? Did you get a shipping email? I ordered first thing yesterday morning and have only got a confirmation/receipt. I'm jealous that you have more information than I do.
I received a shipping notification from UPS, and I just happened to track my order. I am in Illinois so that may be why it is so quick.

Our copy will be here tomorrow. WooHoo! :hurray:

I know I said I was finished buying for this school year, but this looks too good. I am on way to order now, lol
