  1. Help!  I am combining a bunch of free resources to help my daughter with her study skills, SAT prep, and career exploration.  I would like to put this on her high school transcript as a semester course.  I was trying to come up with a course title.  She will be using Khan academy's SAT preparation course, 14 study skills videos and worksheets from www.ibcc.edu/LAR/studyskills.cfm, and Career Explorations four week course from Letshomeschoolhighschool.com.  I think this will be a semester course (I am going to have her track her time spent on the materials).   Any title ideas?  Would a course like this be acceptable on a high school transcript?

    Thanks!!

  2. I was using Skedtrack this past year and I liked a lot of things about it, but I am considering going to Homeschool Tracker. I love how in Skedtrack all my kids can log in and mark their work off. Does Homeschool Tracker do this?

Also, for those who have used Homeschool Tracker, would you recomend Plus or Online?

    Thanks in advance!

  3. There are quizzes after so many words. I made my daughter study the words several times and then take the quiz. Honestly I don't know how much she retained, but she really enjoyed it. We are looking into more in depth now so we are switching to Wordly Wise which seems to have more study of roots and prefixes included. It also fits my need for more independant work for my kids.

  4. In the past I have used SOTW with the activity pages and books on Sonlight's lists available at my library. This year my oldest is going into 5th grade and I feel I need to step up my game. I saw that the activity guide pages for SOTW 4 are geared for an older crowd, but you could buy the coloring pages at Peace Hill Press (I have one going into 3rd grade too).

My Father's World seems to have more biblical history (we would not use the science). Also some additional student pages (what are on these?). It seems all mapped out as well.

Another issue I have is I need less teacher led activities as I will have a kindergartner, preschooler, and toddler who will demand Mommy time too.

So if you could tell me your thoughts on using just SOTW4 and guide (and using books suggested by the guide) vs MFW 1850 to Modern (with the 2nd and 3rd grade supplement too),

I hope I did not ramble too much.... :001_smile::001_smile:

    Thanks in advance!!

  5. In the writing with ease book (not the workbooks), it recommends that you do the last lesson for each year until you find one that your child can't complete properly. They have given the last lesson for each year in the book. For example, my dd (9) was fine with Year 1, but struggled a little with Year 2 so we are starting in year 2.

  6. To get the full benefit and knowledge from the books and do all the experiments, I do not think it would be possible. She probably could do them independently

I belong to the Elementary Apologia Science yahoo group and everyone there is very helpful. The author, Jeannie Fulbright is also on this group. I would join and ask them. We have only done the first book (and loved it) so I am not that knowledgeable.

    Hope this helps,

    Jenny:001_smile:
