  1. I have several school boards. Really need to organize them better though. But, I'd rather spend my computer time pinning than sorting! :)

My main board is "School" but have started to slowly separate some ideas out to my "School-Math" board. My "To occupy Sophia" board is ideas to entertain/educate/distract my 2.5 year old during school time.

    Love your boards, thanks!

ETA - organized my school boards. The thought someone, other than me, might be looking at them was inspiration!

  2. "We are adapting the concepts taught in Rosie's videos and on the Crewton Ramone site to use with our current curriculum."

I'm doing the same thing! Was hoping someone had used the workbooks and could tell me how they they liked them. I like starting at the beginning and working my way through things. I'm nervous just watching videos isn't going to be enough for me to feel comfortable. Just need to get blocks out and play.

  3. Know this is an old thread, but didn't know if anyone uses this these days? I've recently discovered Crewton Ramone House of Math via Rosie's videos.

I have spent HOURS on his site and am so intrigued. I do have Miquon and getting ready to start that, are they similar?

My head is spinning, I honestly had dreams of math manipulatives last night. I thought I set in math, SM and Miquon with some MEP thrown in. Did RS A & B with oldest.

ok, here comes a lot of smiley faces b/c my girls are sitting next to me and really really want to put them in this reply. Sorry!

  4. We love AAS. Skipped over many of the lessons in level 1, since she was already reading very well. But, did slow down when we got to some "rules" i.e. "ck" is used at the end of word if immediately proceeded by a short vowel vs using "k". There are days when we do 2 lessons because the first lesson clicked quickly and she wanted to keep going. She loves doing spelling and I have to limit her to 2 lessons tops. Plus, you will have 2 other kids going through the program, so spreads out the cost of AAS. (in theory! ;) )

    HTH!

  5. All great ideas, thanks! A ping-pong ball is EXACTLY how I've been feeling. :tongue_smilie: I also have been thinking that I need to teach the kids to not come to me with help if they don't get something right away. Like, if dd8 is doing her math, instead thinking through a problem, she'll blurt out that she needs help....and I'm in the middle of helping ds7!

Have you ever heard of Sue Patrick and the workbox system? I don't think all of it would work, but she has an idea about giving each child 3 "help" passes. They have to give up a pass if they need help. It's supposed to help them really think if they need help or not. With young ones though, maybe more than 3? :)

just a thought! Not sure what I'm going to do when the 3 year old joins us! Right now I use nap times!!!
