I think homeschooling has bonded us all so much as a family. I am lucky though that my dh isn't a stickler about housekeeping. If he were the type to come home and get mad because the house is usually in chaos that might be a different story. Happily he is pretty oblivious to that sort of thing. I do have to make sure homeschooling isn't the only thing we talk about! One must have a life outside of it as well. But by and large, I think homeschooling has brought us so close. I love the homeschooling lifestyle. I feel so blessed by it. Happiness makes for a good marriage!

I also am sorry and please know that I remember just feeling "lost" as we sorted out our feelings. My dh had a very difficult time. He is not esp. emotional, but I will remember to pray for your dh today. I really won't forget to pray.

When you can't stand it anymore.....
Actually, I only potty train when we are on school breaks. I learned this one early on. My mom thought it was crazy to potty train over Christmas break, but I can't school and "potty school" at the same time. It has worked for us 3 out of 3, because the first one didn't have any competition.
Also, I give rewards to the ones that help get the training one there on time. It works great. Doesn't have to be candy or marshmallows, but when you don't ever buy this stuff, it is a HUGE motivator!

I think that you will be pleasantly surprised by accomplishing this. Great choices. We started R and S in 3rd and have had great success. The old advice to "just read a lot" has held true here.

I think that I am not looking at others at all. I am looking to God and my dh to make great decisions for us. If I cared about what people at church thought, I would be lost for sure. I know that however my kids are theologically educated, dh and I are responsible. No different than the hs decision, but I think more serious. My very humble thoughts. You all are wonderfully thought provoking. Have a great day!

I love that there are seasos at all. If it were up to me, since I love routine, I would get one I liked and never change. However, God knew better and I am so delighted with each time we cycle around. A familiar and dependable surprise around every corner of the calendar.

When taking the Transcript Boot camp with Inge Cannon, it was my understanding that some classes could be taken and counted before formal highschool studies were started. We have only done this with Spanish.

My dh truly enjoyed this post immensely. My field of study is not nearly as far to the right, I must admit.

I have asked many moms how to "finish up" formal grammar studies and they have said that when you get thru R and S 7 or a like program to stop doing the formal study and to write your brains out! It has worked for my first one that is to be 15 in a bit.

I think these are the questions that all US citizens need to be asking themselves and being ready to intelligently discuss in a legislative setting in the coming months and years. Thanks for a thought provoking post.

People have sin issues whether they teach their children at home or not. i agree with the gal that talked about that many folks are simply not enrolled in a PS any more, not truly hsing.

What does your husband think? We have had differing bday celebration ideas over the years. My dh is good for my thinking when things get like this.

Love this recipe! Thanks for taking the time. These are great ideas. My husband actually eats oatmeal in a bowl with less milk with some ground fla seed for on the go. I love the combination. I am trying Agave to sweeten mine right now.

We are in the habit of loaning many things and money to people, but when we do, we consider it a gift because one can never count on getting it back. If we bank on having it then there is disappointment, but when it is considered a gift if it comes back then we are delighted. Maybe not exactly the same, but some of the same principles may apply here. Hope this helps a bit. You are wise to consider getting others thoughts.

You all are very generous. I am impressed.
This year I got take out looking boxes, put real fortune cookies in them, made my own fortunes from quotes and Bible verses and put a check in the box with pretty paper among the little colorful "fortunes".
I think I will do the How to study in college book next year tho. Sounds simpler.

Use it, but tweak it constantly. Have a science guy for a husband and he loves to add to what we are doing.
