  1. I think my ds (8yo) has decent handwriting on wide ruled notebook paper. His scale is a bit off sometimes. However, we did start cursive because I think improvements in one will help with iprovements in the other. Plus, it keeps things interesting. I've mostly free printable worksheets from www.kidzone.ws (DLTK) and he's done really well so far. I also found a Houghton-Mifflin 3rd grade workbook ebook online for free. Of course, YMMV.

Mamaraby-do you have a link to the ebook?  Thanks!

  2. There are also these options from Scholastic - most of them are on sale at the moment for $1-3 in ebook form. i bought the 3rd and 5th grade Success with Maps books for $1, I like them better than the Evan-Moor daily Geography for my oldest. I may try the daily geography next year after we do this one.

    Tracey,

Do you feel The Success with Maps books are enough for a whole year?

  3. My library carries the Harcourt science textbooks but they're referrence books so I can't check them out. Maybe your library carries them as well so you can peruse them. I also picked one up really cheap at a thrift store.
