  1. The other kids are saving for them too and I think they're a good idea. One of mine is a very auditory learner and I'm toying with the idea of having them/me read the week's spelling list (for example) into the computer to play back on the iPod. Also audiobooks are a big hit here. I haven't tried all the various educational apps, but will be looking at that list that was posted yesterday.

My Nano is the "old" Nano on which you can watch videos (and, oddly enough, you can - the screen is teeny, but the picture is very crisp). At this point I wouldn't go with the new Nano (no video feature), I'd go with a Touch, especially for the kids. The Touch has a bigger screen and I'm just starting to explore the educational prospects. (Much to the kid's disgust "Mom, no-one has educational stuff on their iPod!" LOL)

No, not nosy! Hope my reply makes sense, it is very early in the morning here and I'm only on my first coffee!

  2. Hi Val

Part 1 of my reply - it was too long!

I have a Nano, and one kid has a Touch. We're both addicted to them. :) So far so good, though it has to be said that for now the touch is mostly used for watching videos (via the iTunes store).

For carschooling I intend to get some more of the David Attenborough-type movies. We also have a Kindle app (and another similar reader app) and they're actually not bad for reading - one of my kids prefers a white font on black background, and that is an available setting on the Kindle app, which is useful.
