nancy in nj Posted May 15, 2009 Share Posted May 15, 2009 My teenage daughter (14) is hoping to join a group of homeschooled teens in NJ involved in outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, sailing, kite-flying at the shore etc. We’ve searched all over the internet and haven’t come up with anything. We live in Union County, but (for the summer) are willing to travel an hour or two to join in the fun. Do any of you know of any such group or have teens who would be interested in joining this type of group for summer outings? Harrison_B Posted May 15, 2009 Share Posted May 15, 2009 Hi Nancy, There are a couple of groups I know of in the Monmouth & Mercer counties. I don't know if it is too far for you to travel. There is a teen group that meets on Thursday called E-Cubed. They meet at the Plainsboro Preserve from 11:00 - 2:00 and each week they have a variety of activities (i.e., drama, nature study, country day, games, engineering, etc.). A second group of teens meet on Monday's at the Mercer County Park from 11:00 to whenever. They play volleyball, tag, etc. You could also go fishing at the lake. My sons are 14 and they are also actively involve in Boy Scouts and 4-H. I know of other groups up north but I don't know that much about them.
