kalanamak
I have never seen it, and was wondering if it had anything above brief nudity (I was okay with the br**stfeeding in Clash of the Titans) or simple kissing? Double entendre will go right over kid's head. I'm also guessing there isn't any blood and gore. I'm asking about the 1966 movie, not the local high school play. Has anyone watched it for fun during the ancients? Worthwhile? Thanks
Aurelia
I watched it high school once when my Latin teacher was out and I don't recall anything awfully offensive to my ~10th grade sensibilities. I'm not sure how it would affect younger viewers, though, and my recollection isn't the clearest. It was pretty funny, though.
Mom2GirlsTX
I remember seeing this with my parents when it aired on television in the early 1970' s, so I was somewhere between 9 to 11 when I saw it. I remember laughing very hard. All I can remember is that I thought it was very funny, but I'm quite sure that the tv version was probably pretty edited in early 1970, that the version I saw was very edited compared to what I could rent today. My parents were very conservative, and I remember my father walked out on watching it, but I don't know why. My mother sat there and watched it with me and laughed. So I have no idea, if it is safe for kids or not, but apparently it didn't leave any lasting damage to me from watching it, but again, I saw an edited Sunday night tv version.:D Edited May 10, 2009 by Mom2GirlsTX
mom31257
Do you have a Netflix membership? It is available on there and there is a trailer to preview. It said for mature audiences at the end of it. It seemed to have a lot of sensuality in it to me, even if it is meant to be funny.
Peggy in Va
I saw this in the theater with my mom when I was little. I remember it as being funny, but I'm sure a lot of it went over my head. There is sensuality in it, however it is meant to be funny, nothing obscene. Think original Pink Panther type movies or the one scene between the king and queen in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Also, remember that when this movie originally came out, the only ratings were G, PG, and may R. If this movie were to released today it would probably get a PG-13 rating. I've run into this problem a couple of times when I was watching movies that were released in the 80's w/ my two youngest dss. HTH
kalanamak
Think original Pink Panther type movies or the one scene between the king and queen in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I can handle this. Thanks. I'm one of those in-the-minority Americans who thinks a little nudity is oh-so-what, and a documentary with real violence is okay in moderation, but who opposes shmaltz, glorified violence, and sloppy grammar all the way.
