Melissa in St Louis
Ok, so the AC is blowing air out the vents, but the air is not really "cold." I changed the filter and pressed the little reset thingie, and it's still not cold. We're moving in a few days, and I don't want to call the repair man, so do you have any other thoughts? Thanks! OnTheBrink
Do you own or rent your home? If you own it and turn it over to the new owners with a broken AC, they might come after you to fix it. If you rent, I'd have the land lord fix it!
momof2boys
It sounds like it needs to be serviced. This is something that you(if you own the home ) or your landlord is suppossed to do every year. HTH
Heather in Savannah
Could it be low on Freon? That would be my guess.
Melissa in St Louis
can I add that myself? That is what I think is wrong, too!
OnTheBrink
can I add that myself? That is what I think is wrong, too! I don't think so. I'm pretty sure you have to have a repairman do it.
Blessedfamily
Central Air Conditioner Problems "Your a/c is running, but the air isn't getting cooler. When your air conditioner doesn't cool the air, but continues to run, it might just need to be cleaned. You should do this on a warm day and follow the instructions in your manufacturer's manual. If the units are running but not cooling, touch the larger of the copper lines exiting the condenser. If it is warm, the system could be out of freon or it could be compressor failure. If the line seems frozen, there could be airflow problems in it because of a clogged filter. Switch the system off and let it thaw. If it happens again when you start it up, call your technician." Melissa in St Louis
:glare: "It is illegal - on a Federal level - to attempt to do this yourself unless you happen to be an EPA certified technician.
