Jane in NC
Hi folks, PBS's program NOVA will be airing a program, "Cracking the Maya Code", this evening. Additional information is available on the website. Some of your students might be intrigued by the Maya hieroglyphic decoding exercise. Maya arithmetic used a base 20 system (as opposed to our base 10). The PBS folks have created a nice activity employing Maya arithmetic. Those of you looking for some fun math activities to wrap up your year or a way of integrating math with geography and history might want to have a look. Best, Jane
