Can anyone tell me who to use for a cell phone?

Recommended Posts

Is there a cell phone, land line, computer bundle cheap?

What about just a cheap cell phone?

You can check AT&T for their bundles. Our land line is through the cable company and I have a landline, internet, tv bundle, but they don't offer cell service. My cell service is through AT&T and with two lines and 3500 minutes a month, it's around $80. It would be less with one line and fewer minutes.

My DH and I just got sick and tired of paying $100 a month for a family plan cell phone bundle of 2 phones with about 800 minutes on Altell. Soooo, we dumped our plan and bought prepaid service with Altell -- I used $13 worth last month and he used $15. It's been SOOOO freeing! I realized just how little we were really needing the cell phones. We mostly called each other, and used the cells to call out of area family ("my circle" was good for that purpose).

We now just buy pre-paid calling cards at Costco. This way, we use what we have, and *can't* go over!

For my area - AT&T is $65 for one cell with 1350 minutes.

Embarq is the only one with land line and internet bundle here. Not sure what they offer for cell service bundled in, if anything.

Verizon has given us great service for cell phone.

Any other just land lines for this area?

I called Embarq - $45 unlimited long distance land line. But I'd be interested in knowing if there are other local phone companies.

Verizon is impossible to get a hold of.

They list a number for new customers that gets one automated message after another.

What does that run a minute?

Nope, not unless your county is different.

And you just go to the Verizon store and get immediate service. There's one on every corner. As you may have noticed. LOL

The thing we like about Verizon is the ability to share minutes on another phone for $10 more a month.

I am just out of range of AT&T's bundle package (can't get DSL or digital TV), and the cable company's bundle (cable service stops two blocks from my house)... so I've been looking at a lot of options for mixing and matching services.

One very interesting option I've found is the Ooma VoIP phone (Costco sells them). They say you can port your landline number to it, and that it has 911 service... of course, if you lose internet, there goes your home phone too...

Cell phones- I think plans must vary from area to area. In my area, the Sprint family plan with shared minutes is the best deal.
