Jane
I'm working my way through a trial run of TOG to determine whether it is for us and how I can schedule it. Here's my question, how long and how often do you schedule TOG for your lower grammar stage children? I'm looking through the material and am thinking I will only need to schedule history about 3 times per week for them. Does this sound about right? Thanks for your insight! Leanna Tomlinson
For my LG kids we have one day for introducing the week and doing mapwork. We have another day for hands-on activities. For us, hands-on activities are accomplished at co-op. I read aloud from TOG books 5-6 days per week, this includes history and literature selections. You could definitely limit it to three days per week if you wanted to. My kids just end up begging me to read to them on most days.:) HTH, Leanna

I generally read daily, but I read to them during lunch and if I were to get out of the habit they would all complain when I started up again. I start mapping around 2nd/3rd grade (depends on the child), and timelines in 5th, vocab in 4th just so that they can do it more independently. Feel free to customize it in what ever way works for you. Heather
razorbackmama
I scheduled an hour a day, 5 days, a week. I tried to do the reading first, mapping/discussion on days3-4, and activities on day 5. It varied though since each week varied assignment-wise.
Karenciavo
Lower Grammar Work ~ Time Required: 1-1.5 hours We read aloud all selections together, ds6 does most of the reading. I like to complete one main component of TOG a day with him, normally our week looks like this: Friday: History, people to know, and geography Monday: Literature, including worksheet, writing Tuesday: History in-depth, copywork, hands-on Wednesday: Worldview, writing, finish hands-on Thursday: Finish up any odds and ends, TOG Co-op
